Do you give homeless people money?
 

when they ask you for it on the street? If so, what's the most you've given one

I did once, I gave a pound to a guy at Victorian station .. only because he had a really good sales pitch.

i donate directly to organizations that help the homeless, but no i do not directly give to them.

Yes all the time. When I lived downtown I bought the homeless man that sat outside my gym lunch 3 times per week.

Bizwise we sponsor a girl in the Phillipines, we help her family (directly) but the girl more with books etc, to help her to get a decent life socially and financially stable, personally I donate to several organisations too. Once a while I give money to ppl on the streets, - straatkrantjes - aka streetnewspapers we call them they sell, they have to buy them for 50 cents, so they cant convert all cash to booz, its at least a way I know theyre trying.

Sometimes - but I have some controversial views on that - I wont share them here because I will get flamed, and I have had enough of that for one week :)

I have in the past, but not any more. But I don't want to help their drug addiction so I give food instead.

I don't give money on street kids, sometimes if I have extra food that's what I give them.

Most the time it will be to help them get more drugs. If i'm in a charity mood, i make sure my money goes somewhere much more worthwhile...

my parents have done that for 30 years, theyve really helped the kids get an education. its a wonderfull way to do something meaning full. i would but part of the deal with what my folks do is that they write and recive letters and i just cant be arsed.

i do give to charities, mainly ones diana princess of wales was involved with. im a brit and loved her so i do that for her.

Yes of course, did that so many times now but after seeing them using the money in gambling I never gave at all.

I only give money to the bums who share their crack.

For music promotion I sometimes give homeless people stickers to put up and give them $10 when they're done. I've heard of people giving them promotional t-shirts and stuff too that they of course wear all day long. AHhh the sweet smell of exploitation.

Not all homeless people are drug addicts. A lot of them suddenly found themselves without a job, and for whatever reason nobody to help them out.

I usually buy them food and a drink. I think I had all the homeless guys in Seattle as my best friends after a few days there :(

No fucking way. I'll buy them a bag of dog food if they've got a dog though. The dog can't choose it's owner, but the asshole owner can choose to get a job/help

I give for those who really seems to be in need (although its hard to tell most of the time) if I have spare change or if they have an original/polite way to ask. I never give to ppl who are being imposing or aggressive.

Nope I don't usually give money to homeless people because it makes them leech off on people more.

usually not, but I find it kinda interesting that many of them are so smooth with their stories, they could outtalk a used car salesman or a lawyer....

Sometimes, if they're making music or are otherwise entertaining.

NO I don't BUT every couple of weeks we have a party or something and we have so much great food left that we package them very nice with a fruit and all and go down to the street (in downtown LA there are many...) and give it away.

this way I'm positive they actualy eating and not taking the money for drugs/booz.

No I'm not completely heartless and cold. Prove to me that you are indeed in need I'll buy you a meal, not give you money.

Yes I do when I have it.

Most of the time I am not carrying currency. I do just about everything with business, or personal credit cards so the MOST I would have on me is like $20 ever.

I flip them the cash, and feel good about it the rest of the day. I do not waste my time hypothisizing on what they do, or do not, may, or may not spend it on. I just know in some way shape or form I made their day brighter.

But I am not the morals police. I do not worry about what they are going to spend it on.

i've given alot. the world needs more love and compassion.

I remember seeing a bum holding a sign that said "why lie? need a beer!!"

We pay enough Tax and National Insurance that there shouldnt be homeless people.

If everyone who gave a pound to a homeless person sent a letter to thier MP instead it would be a lot more effective.

I did yesterday to a lady at a gas station.

If I have enough money, I give them some even before they ask for it.

Sometime I do but this guy made me lock my doors lol

Nope, I will never give homeless people any cash. I will however ask them if they are hungry, and if they are, I will buy them a meal. Guess how many have taken me up on that offer? None. =)

for kids and old one.. dont give them money.. give food instead... for those who are still strong enough to work.. i dont give them money, they should be working not asking for some dime in the streets..

I would never give money directly to a homeless person. I feel a lot of them choose to live like that and I work hard for my money and do not feel comfortable giving it away to someone that won't do anything to help themselves. I like the honesty some of them have when they tell you the money is for liquor or smokes but it makes me not want to give it to them even more. Plus... living in a large city for a few years I heard all of their pitches and lies and up my mind.

I normally don't give money but I have bought food many times and given it away. I had an ex girlfriend who would always take our "doggy bag" food and give it away the second we walked out of a restaurant. We would always order more food than we could eat just so she would have a doggy bag to give away, lol.

I remember one time recently there was a homeless guy panhandling in front of a Taco Bell. I felt sorry for the guy and bought an extra meal just for him. So when I was leaving I try to hand him the food bag and drink. He takes the food but waves the drink away and says "I only drink Alcohol", lol.

I did some donations to some organizations but i dont remember to give money anyone on street.
