meanwhile designers start their own site with a great design but don't have a clue at the traffic level. |

i'd sell it for 1 billion without a doubt, but I'd ad some stuff to the contract, such as a permanent job that would allow me to remain head of the project, etc...

Design is much more than rounded corners and white space. Myspace & facebook have *exactly* the design that works best for them. |

Facebook was made for college students. Just in the past year they allowed highschool students to join (which is lame as shit). Then recently they allowed EVERYONE to join (which is even lamer than shit). Now they starting putting on subtle ads.. If yahoo takes it over it will be like myspace.. FUCK THAT
thats fuckin insane
facebook is a monster, every single college kid has an account on there, each person visits it about 25 times a day. It's a fucking monster, i have been waiting for it to sell for like 2 years now.
they turned down $750 million dollars and hope to get $2Billion
jesus christ |
This thread is old they already turned down the billion offer... I Think they have had even higher offers now.

damn that would be a nice sale for a 22 year old
I cant believe that things like this are worth billions.........unreal
Facebook's traffic today is unreal because of the VTech shooting.
I have an account there using my school email from college, its not a bad place good for him for getting 1B for it
facebook isn't bad at all. Alot easier to get around with the clean design etc and everything. Not as fucking slow as myspace usually is.
You don't need to be in college to be on Facebook. Lots of people are there, I have an account.

I read the article about facebook's success in the magazine on the weekend.. here's the online version of it - link..
I found this on page three of the article... So how does Facebook make its money? Advertising and sponsorships, mostly. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) was an early backer, sponsoring a site for iTunes enthusiasts. JPMorgan Chase and Southwest (NYSE:LUV), among others, pay for similar programs. "Flyers," the online version of the paper ads that students use to publicize events, also provide a very modest source of revenue. And there is a nascent-but-growing local advertising business. The big money, though, comes from an ad-placement alliance with Microsoft in which the software giant will place banner ads on the site through 2011. It mirrors a deal MySpace inked with Google last year. (MySpace reportedly got $900 million over three years. Facebook hasn't released the value of its program, and neither party will comment on the terms.) Facebook also just inked a deal with Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) to create and Webcast an episodic show based on user-generated video content. Called "Facebook Diaries," the series will be shown on both Facebook and Ziddio.com, Comcast's video-uploading site, as well as through Comcast's video-on-demand service. |
Facebook fucking rocks!!!

I think the design doesn't have to look good to work for its users. it's like a magazine should have ads that work geared towards it readers, same goes online.
Facebook has exploded in the last three months. In Toronto alone, the amount of members has more than doubled from ~200K to ~450K in the last 6 weeks. It's staggering.
