God hates us all!

One of the BEST all time metal bands! Slayer's latest album! Have a listen. Not too shabby at all considering their peak was about 15 years ago. :thumbsup

Whats funny is I love death metal, but dont believe in hell

Isnt it ironic, dont you think?

mike503 06-28-2002 12:54 AM

who said you have to believe in their shit?

death metal is beats/chords/music (and lyrics..) - i didn't know you had to believe in the shit to "like" a genre. lyrics are funny, they go with the song, but you're not expected to live them like gospel. in fact, if you do live song lyrics like real life, you're probably going to live a short or very unhappy/disappointing life.

Fletch XXX 06-28-2002 12:58 AM

Track record recording studio is blocks from here.

Its where they recorded all of their early stuff.

ADIDAS 06-28-2002 12:58 AM

True - very true!

You ever listen to any christian death metal?

There are some sick christian bands out these days

Zao, Figure Four, xDisciplex, Point of Recognition

You would never guess in a million years any of those were christian if you listened to them.

oh yeah, and Creed. \m/

there is actually a lot of really good christian death metal (not to be confused with the band Christian Death ;)) I really like Benediction

---

I've been raving about the new Slayer stuff for awhile....they even got a fucking Grammy nomination this year (does that mean they are due for decline? ;))

Slayer will probably never be able to duplicate Reign In Blood which is one of the all time best records ever and they've had a few weak points, but I don't think they exactly peaked...they are still as ferocious as ever, I just wish Tom Araya would stop with his between song banter live...it's lame hearing him sing about tearing someone limb from limb, then say "you all take care of each other out there" LOL

---

I'm really getting back into grindcore again after getting a bit bored with it...Napalm Death's newest album goes back to being raw and vicious and comes across as more "musical" than just the obligatory Exorcist type vocals....

oh man, haven't seen that phrase since my days of haunting the alt.tasteless newsgroup :)

I even made a couple alt.fuck.the.skull.of.jesus t-shirts...may have to see if I still have one or two laying around...

Its been awhile since ive seen the old bands back in the hardcore days in New Orleans.

"Behind the facade of this innocent looking bookstore."

The RC Bridge Lounge on Magazine.... cant recall the name of the place across the street that was behind the bookmsstore, it wasnt more than a fucking garage, cant recall the name. I remember the hardcore Japanese guys coming out with their killer long mullets with spikes, and knives.

Yeah we were hardcore hehehe

Then I got my hands on vintage synths, an Atari 520 ST, and orange amps.

I still have Napalm Death's first album on vinyl. It's aweesome! Haven't listened to it for a long time tho...my turntable busted a while ago.

I agree tho...Slayer's REign In Blodd is a great album, but I think that's where they peaked, cuz they pretty much went south from there. I started losin' interest in them after South Of Heaven...

On Mancow's radio show, they had Slayer play live in the studio several months ago. That was pretty damn cool. :thumbsup
