Well i burned all my important stuff on C.D

Format the H.d to get rid of All that HP Shit
And installed my full copy of win98

edmo 06-27-2002 06:28 PM

hyper 06-27-2002 06:30 PM

yeah i heard to many horror stories after 98

but hungryman is slowly convincing me on XP

[Labret] 06-27-2002 06:30 PM

What are your other options?

Windows 2000? Which I run and love but have problems gaming on it.

Windows ME? Shit
Windows XP? Fisher Price My First Computer Look, die die die. If you like WinXP, just buy a mac and get it overwith. The fucking things tries to hold your hand through everything. It was made with my grandmother in mind.

I have all my machines either win98 or win2000, and most dualboot both.

hyper 06-27-2002 06:32 PM

thats why i like 98

I'm running ME without too many problems...I dunno why but each time I tried to install 98, I had tons of problems with drivers and shit like that.... as for XP...I tried it and removed it for the reasons you mentioned...It's a computer, not a damn toy LOL...
For now i'll stick with my RedHat/WinME dual boot I guess....

People said the same thing about Windows 95 when it came out.

That was back in 95 when next to nobody even knew what the internet was and most people didnt even own a pc. Its a different world now. Computers are built with one thing in mind now... "could a retard with no experience use this shit?"

Introducing Windows XP. The simpleton OS.

You are using XP arent you?

FlyingIguana 06-27-2002 06:44 PM

i like xp. i wouldn't consider it an easy os. the thing can be a pain in the ass getting your hardware to work.

Pipecrew 06-27-2002 06:46 PM

Win ME = biggest shitbox ever, my fucking computer crashed 12 times a day when I was running that

Windows 2k Pro = Hasnt crashed yet, its really stable so far

I have 3 computers, one runs Win2000, one runs WinME, one runs WinXP.

I have no complaints with XP.

You sound like those kind of people who think they're all high and mighty and they laugh at anyone else who runs mainstream software.

I usually buy a couple machines a year for work (why not, its a tax writeoff), and this year I decided to buy some behemoth that had XP on it.

The rage began as soon as I booted that hunk of shit up.

How can you people look at that candy assed gui that looks like it was made by 17 year old japanese girl. I felt so fucking dirty using it.

And then began the hardware conflicts as I tried to customize the thing to my liking. What a joke.

Two days later, I took it back and demanded a refunded. My first refund from a store.

Everytime I even see XP in a display my left eye starts to twitch and I feel all dirty all over again.

SilverTab 06-27-2002 06:51 PM

The thing that really made me switch back to ME is the damn mouse freeze I had all the time when playing CounterStrike...died so many times because of this..I was about to smash everything on the wall....I said to myself...calm down, and remove this damn XP LOL....not a big thing, still I was going crazy...the problem never occured with ME tough...I guess I would've leave XP if I had a bigger HD, but I already have RedHat and ME installed so, no place for a 3rd OS....

Mainstream software? What exactly would that be?

Im using IExplorer and sitting on a Windows2000 box. I am nobody to criticize "mainstream" software. I am not even sure what that is... like there is underground software? You mean like bad shareware apps? Im confused.

High and mighty? If I was high and mighty, I would say anything outside of a linux box and xwindows would be nothing short of homosexual.

Dont even try and deny that XP was written for simple minded fucks just now jumping on the internet bandwagon.

Of course it was written to be user friendly....do you expect Microsoft to purposely create an new OS that is difficult to use and confusing?

Microsoft wants to make Windows as user friendly as possible....thus the simple GUI and user friendly features in WinXP

That used to be the beauty of the internet pre 95.

There were less idiots online as less people had the know how needed to get online.

All these new machines do is allow the common retard to run willy nilly.

Do you remember what the internet used to look like before corporate America found out what it was? I am guessing not. It was a glorious place. And those that were there, deserved to be there.

Scooter and Billy Joe with their shiny new idiot box are now free to pollute my precious bandwidth with their idiotic dribble with just a simple click of the mouse.

I would gladly go back in time and use my 14.4 and lynx if it meant no more newbs.

Just take a look at this board. Proof positive.

to change the gui to fit you're tastes: http://www.windowblinds.net

dipshit moron retard 06-28-2002 12:09 AM

fyi fags: winxp rox. tons of drivers, build in zip, remote desktop, the most awesome part: multiple users logged in at once on the same machine and switching between them with 1 keystroke, and the way you can open like 10 browsers and have them all stack on top of each other and take 1 spot on the taskbar, its extremely stable, plays all games great, the list goes on and on.

you can quickly and easily switch winxp to the 'classic" look which is identical to win2000. there is really no reason not to use xp unless you're trying to be some sort of nerdy rebel.

[Labret] 06-28-2002 05:37 AM

back in the very early 90s, I boosted a mac classic from a computer lab, it had 1 meg of ram. Those things fit almost perfectly in a backpack.

I wish I still had it.
