iWebmasters is down due to the storm, info inside

100 mph typhoon winds have knocked out the power for 43 million people in the Philippines. Manila has taken a direct hit. I'll post updates as I get them but rest assured that no customers will be charged for downtime. Right now I'm more worried about the safety of everyone there. Please stay tuned.

Mr. Romance 09-28-2006 07:59 AM

Wow sorry to here that

Mr. Romance

NickPapageorgio 09-28-2006 08:00 AM

Thanks for the info Rick. Hope everyone is safe and secure down there.

DateDoc 09-28-2006 08:00 AM

I hope everyone is safe and sound. I know you guys will get everyone up and running again as soon as possible.

I know our thoughts go out to these guys. I just got back from New Orleans (where the Falcons got killed by the Saints) and I have all kinds of respect for the forces of nature.

The good news is that our office is in the middle of the financial district and thus will be one of the first to get power back. I'm getting reports that they are 75% we'll have power tomorrow.

The bad news is that the employees will still need to get from their homes to the office and we don't know how bad that situation is.

That makes two of us. I still haven't heard from either of them.

Trixxxia 09-28-2006 08:23 AM

I hope they are all shielded either in their homes or the office and that they are as safe as they can be.

Positive thoughts sent to your crew.

Thanks, make sure your people in your office know why their team in Manila is MIA.

Axzar 09-28-2006 08:27 AM

It was crazy. I have heard it was the worst many here have seen. Windows blown out, cars flipped over, trees down. (I live 2 blocks from Rick's offices).

I am on 34th floor, my building was swaying 3 inches back and forth.

I am sure everyone will be ok. I think your guys and gals went home early, if they made it in at all.

Axzar 09-28-2006 08:28 AM

The storm has been gone from Makati about eight hours now.

Sexy Rex 09-28-2006 08:36 AM

Heard about it in the car this morning, couldn't get in touch with anyone there. Thanks for the update Rick, I hope eveyone is ok there.

Rochard 09-28-2006 09:00 AM

tranza 09-28-2006 09:05 AM

I hope nobody got hurt....

E$_manager 09-28-2006 09:09 AM

This is very bad. How they can communicate if most ofthe people now have electronic phones. Mobiles work?

MissMina 09-28-2006 09:12 AM

Sorry to hear. Hope everything pulls through ok.

Only a few of my people have working phones at the moment. I'm hearing reports that the power is coming back on in many areas and we should be operational this evening, U.S. time. The question remains, what percent of the people will show up to work this evening. Regardless, we are on the case and mobilizing relief efforts for any employees in need of assistance.

CaptainHowdy 09-28-2006 09:32 AM

Glad everyones ok :)!

Rick -

Paul and Ermy were stuck in the office yesterday aftertoon/evening PH time....couldn't go outside. Bless their hearts...they were working on going through resumes for recruitment :thumbsup The last correspondance I had from Angelito was through them at around 1pm PH time in regards to night shifts.

A few of my employees I have setup on PDA phones and they have been feeding me updates on everyone in Bluewire's situation through their email (up until their phone batteries died). Steve said it was the worst one he can remember (He's 30).

Its times like this that you start your work day worried about your business/schedule and end the day worried about your employee's safety....

crockett 09-28-2006 06:12 PM

100 mph winds did all that damage? Do they not have these storms there very often? Here in Florida 100mph is just getting breezy.. :winkwink:

Hope everyone there is safe and ok.

Hello! Back to work today! :)

So tired and I only have 2 hours sleep. We've been cleaning the house since yesterday. So tired but still need to get in the office. We have flood water inside the house, 3ft high. (forgot to bring the cam to post pic here).Still no electricity for two days. :(

We hired to guys to clean our garden coz two fruit trees fell. And 1 day is not enough to clean all of it. :(

Bad news.... Our two dogs dead..:(

On the way going to the office, the TRAFFIC sucks!!!!

huh?

Wilma came thru last year with 100mph winds and people were without power for weeks

AssPirate 09-29-2006 09:58 AM

I think the Weather people underquoted the speed of the typhoon winds. In CNN and other news agencies, the winds went as high as 200 kph according to a major news network there (GMA Network News).

The rain and the wind had ceased at around 4:30 to 5pm. The real problem was the devastation it had caused. Most of it had to do with goveernment recklessness. The towering billboards didn't follow the proper construction regulations such that they were built too close to the freeways. It was only during that time that the agencies involved realized that they were too close to the road. Tsk Tsk Tsk...
