I use what works for the application at hand. A laptop running Linux that I want to edit shit and watch DVDs on.. er, no. Long battery life Linux? Not quite.

fedora 5 on my desktop and servers.

i only use windows for now...

Mostly I use windows(server/desktop use) and its doing really good but I have linux based servers that are doing great. :)

I'd like to change over to Linux. Perhaps soon.

servers run freebsd, desktop runs windows.

I'm using Slackware 10.1


I found this version of Slackware to be pretty much what I expected in the fundamental areas. It was as usual stable, reliable, and fully functional. The installer was a familiar face and worked flawlessly and even sets up some of the tedious little configurations for the user such as network, root password, and timezone.

I agree with you linux is great for servers..
But Do you use UNIX ?

I prefer BSD above Linux for servers.

I use linux on my desktop. For servers, there is no alternative to linux, bsd and other unix systems.

Ubuntu is a nice desktop distribution.

I am planning to shift on Linux soon. Wish me luck. :)

I prefer FreeBSD for servers because it's very clean and stable.
For the desktop i use Windows 2000 and Windows XP because of the tools / software / hardware which it's compatible with.
