Question about burning man (Halcyon)
 

Ok I saw the burning man footage of Halcyon. My question is, I see alot of hippies riding around on bicycles in circles in the middle of the desert. What's the purpose of this? Where are you going? We in holland all got bicycles but we use it to get from point A to B. When I'd drive past that hippie gathering I'd think what the fuck is wrong with you guys.... let's say you're lost and you drive past the burning man show, and you see some people ride circles with bikes without any destination...... very strange. So whats the purpose?

im no expert, but apparently burning man is a celebration of creation and opening the mind to new ideas :)

Burning man is an excuse for people to go out, get loaded, and do stupid shit they couldn't get away with, elsewhere.

You have everyone bringing their crazy little things to it - but it usually just ends up with old fat guys wearing dresses and latex.

So, it's not that different than GFY.

Burning man is in the middle of fucking nowhere. If you were "lost" and you stumbled on it, you'd probably be fucking thankful for water and directions since you're miles away from nowhere in a desert.

It's also a large community that would take some time to walk from one side to another. They don't allow motor vehicles (except some theme vehicles) so bicycles make an excellent alternative.

I have not been myself, so this is based on what I've read.

p.s. Burning man can't give you your sig back either.

from the footage I saw, they werent riding from one side to another. They were literally riding in small circles like a bunch of autistic patients.
