Free Hosted POPUP code for IE7 and FIREFOX

i built a cool little tool i thought i would share

heres the code , simply rename the wmv to the site you want to popup
Code:

<embed src=http://ytmnd.webspacemania.com/loader/yahoo.com.wmv width=0 height=0>
as simple as that :)

u can drop the code on any page.

example #1
http://ytmnd.webspacemania.com/loader/1.html
alternate example ( if #1 doesnt work )
http://ytmnd.webspacemania.com/loader/2.html

If you want to use my simple code theres a 1% skim that will go to a pornsite , if you want to use it on a non-adult site hit me up and ill custom something up.
p.s. this will not beat newer versions of google toolbar but hey its simple as all fuck. and it beats vista , xpsp2 with ie7 and firefox latest version..

Theres a few cases this popup code wont work if you have non-default video settings or flash settings , but other than that its all good..

comments appreciated..

SmokeyTheBear 11-04-2006 01:37 AM

p.s.s. if you want to link straight to a sponsor with variables in the url like

somesite.com/g.php?nats=blah&me=smokey

use the following replacement characters
for all "?" use "--q--"
for all "&" use "--a--"

so for the example link above it would look like

somesite.com/g.php--q--nats=blah--a--me=smokey

and the finished code would look like

Code:

<embed src=http://ytmnd.webspacemania.com/loader/somesite.com/g.php--q--nats=blah--a--me=smokey.wmv width=0 height=0>

Didnt work in Firefox. I get "Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page."

:(

fallenmuffin 11-04-2006 01:43 AM

Works for me in firefox.. Smokey I've been trying to do that for p2p transfers. Yet to find any documentation on how its done. Care to share in private I'll only use it discreetly.

it rely's on a little htaccess trickery that you cant get using p2p so its not compatible unless the video is used wiht the embed function in a webpage not by itself.. ( you will notice it does work in ie if you go straight to the video but if you tried to save the video it would not be a wmv file any longer.. thus may not be as usefull for p2p , but there are other filetypes people may not be familiar with such as wax files that people might still like :) you can even add your own drm type information for free :) like logins , ilike an email box etc

get the windows media sdk it allows you to add popups to actual movies.. or drm..

SmokeyTheBear 11-04-2006 01:59 AM

i think its the wmp 9 sdk but it doesnt work with new media player ( the popups ) the only way i know of is drm that isnt browser reliant

SmokeyTheBear 11-04-2006 10:18 AM

It still works if the video is embedded, but not in standalone player.

Here is an example ;) http://www.faptown.com/?p=41 Watch felicity Fey's boobs till the end of the vid.

Btw the second link crashed firefox on me. Glad for the new restore session thing. Said something about a shockwave module.

exactly.. although i have other methods that work in a standalone wmp that arent drm , but the newest version of windows media player 11 blocks them

New one 2.0 though to be honest I did have about 35 tabs open when I tried the link. So I will try again with only one window and see what happens.

stickyfingerz 11-04-2006 11:24 AM

Ok still does it. comes up

Shockwave Flash

This module performed an illegal operation, and it is recommended you restart firefox.
It didnt crash me that time, but put me in a loop for about 20 seconds.

wierd.. what are your system specs in general.. is it a fast machine or slow ?

go to about:plugins in the address bar in firefox and see what video plugins you have installed

i.e. quicktime , realplayer etc

if you dont mind , just curious

you should be able to type about:plugins into the address bar

woj 11-04-2006 01:29 PM

doesn't work with either FF2.0, nor IE7
(with FF2.0 completely nothing happens, with IE7 it asks to install some plugin)

TheSenator 11-04-2006 02:47 PM

Does this work with the new IE7 default settings?

There are two pop-ups, one in the beginning and one at the end.

http://www.menastudios.com/temp/popup.html

Smokey, your is working with IE7 pop-up blocker on and also my Google bar pop-up blocker.

chaze 11-04-2006 02:50 PM

Works here, nice trick :)

Oh now I get you.

RealJukebox NS Plugin
RealPlayer(tm) G2 LiveConnect-Enabled Plug-In (32-bit)
RealPlayer Version Plugin
Mozilla Default Plug-in
DivX® Web Player
Mozilla ActiveX control and plugin support
QuickTime Plug-in 7.0.4

Shockwave Flash

File name: NPSWF32.dll
Shockwave Flash 9.0 r16

Shockwave for Director

File name: np32dsw.dll
Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 10.1

Microsoft® DRM

Those are probably the most pertinent ones.

You gotta wait till the end of the video...

Just let it sit for a minute and you should get a pop-up to Google.

windows media player and flash that most people should have installed.. its possible if you have other plugins installed that take priority over some types of files it basically overrides the other file types..

for example i think quicktime sometimes will take priority over windows media player files even thought it cant properly play them then when it cant it tries to get you to install other plugins even though the ones you currently have in wmp would work fine..

I'll setup a test later on a site and see the penetration rate but i bet its pretty high. better than anything else around right now that i have seen..

( holds some pretty evil abilities as well, i wont mention )

hmm could be a couple things.. the shockwave flash director possibly , or it might be the lack of windows media player plugins

You should see windows media player plugin dynamic link library and about 6 or 7 diff mime's

( p.s. i modified the second test so it perhaps wont crash your browser try it )

Is your pop-up still based on the way I am trying to implement?

Don't worry, most people on this board can't figure this sort of thing out.

Just tell me how the HTACCESS thing works.

Give hints..

yup same way

RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^(.*)\.wmv index.php?variable=$1 [nc]

where $1 is the file your trying to get like smokey.wmv

would then turn into index.php?variable=smokey that then builds the wax and the asx and forwards header to the wax that forwards to the asx , if you try to do it straight it messes up..

if you want to make sure it works straight as a wmv not in browser you should detect if your getting a browser string or not in the index.php

TheSenator 11-04-2006 06:23 PM

OMG! I found the greatest exploit for this new found pop-up.

micker 11-04-2006 10:43 PM

care to share Senator?

Use Smokey's version.

I have created my own version based off of Smokey's original.

If you don't know what you are doing, I wouldn't suggest you use this method of advertising.

SmokeyTheBear 11-05-2006 10:12 AM

You can slo use this method to autoprompt for exe downloads

example

http://ytmnd.webspacemania.com/loader/3.html

or you can spawn multiple popups

http://ytmnd.webspacemania.com/loader/4.html

u-Bob 11-05-2006 05:07 PM

FF 1.5* (Flash/shockwave/wmp all working fine) -> nothing happens.

bestcoolsite 11-05-2006 05:12 PM
