Disturbing video of kids fighting on MySpace

Sara DorseySt. Petersburg, Florida - The video is hard to watch and it's littered with profanity and racial slurs.

For nearly two minutes, adults, possibly even parents, cheer on two young boys to duke it out.

It was posted on the popular website, MySpace.com by a teen claiming to be from St. Petersburg.

Trenia Byrd Cox, President of the St. Petersburg chapter of the NAACP calls the clip shocking and disturbing. Titled "Jr. Ghetto Street Fights," the clip has gotten more than 8,000 hits. It's listed as a comedy, but Cox sees it as anything but laughable.

?I'm almost speechless, I'm almost speechless. That is bizarre. You should not be encouraging children to fight, that's not how you resolve conflict and that's certainly not entertainment.?
Psychologist Dr Sidney Merin took a look as well, and says these adults, while seemingly having fun, could be causing irreversible damage.

To change that, it takes a long, long time. By the time they're 17 or 18 years old it may take years in treatment to modify that behavior.

So what can be done? That remains to be seen. St. Petersburg authorities and Florida Department of Children and Families have been notified. Byrd Cox is asking someone to step up.

?That's a case that needs to go directly to the abuse registry. I hope they do a serious investigation, maybe to track this down, because this is the kind of behavior, this is the kind of behavior that, later on, if you don't address it, a constant exposure to violence, and that kind of violent behavior, just leads to more violent behavior.?

Kids should fight.They build them selfs.

I'm not sure how i feel about that .. I was taught to protect myself and encouraged to stand up but that seems way beyond and way to stressful on the kids ... someone needs to find those people and take those kids ..

You sir are an idiot. It is good for kids to learn how to defend themselves but encouraging them to fight like that is fucking irresponsible.

Kids normally have fights. But to encourage them to fight is a different story.

It doesn't seem much different than when other more fortunate kids get to take karate lessons and fight in sparring and real matches. The only advice I would give is to give them some gloves and maybe some pads of some sort. We used to street box when I was a kid and it was actually pretty fun. You get hurt for the time being but you really do get a lesson on how to take care of yourself.

And people wonder why some young people seem so fucked up

Kids have been known to play fight to resolve their issues when they're young, but the adults in this video were so obviously egging these kids to continue fighting long after the kids would have ended things. I think the adults were being very irresponsible in this video.

What's the over/under on the age of those kids going to jail someday?

something tells me those 2 kids will dead within 10 yrs. Those parents or adults (whatever) that were encouraging them to fight, they were teaching them that that is normal life behavior. That's all those kids learned. Sad.
