Its been raining nonstop here (pic)

Nonstop rain for 2 weeks
SO bad that there are issues with our water systems here

"GREATER VANCOUVER - Vancouver Coastal Health is warning people across Greater Vancouver not to drink their water if it appears brown when it comes from their taps.

Chief medical health officer Dr. John Blatherwick said people could have water with high turbidity, cloudiness or haziness caused by particles.

"We are having a problem with the waterline at Seymour [watershed] so Capilano is having to be used and Capilano is our worst source in terms of turbidity," Blatherwick said.

"We thought we should tell people that if the water is brown [this] morning we know it's brown and don't drink the brown water," he added.

He said if people drink the water, however, the worst that can happen is they can suffer from gastrointestinal illness. "

Really? So, unless specifically told not to drink brown water, the average Canadian will?

What color is your water normally?

Actually in some location the water coming out of the tap
is not appearing brown its yellowish but u really cannot
tell unless you put it in a cup or plug the drain in the sink or tub
Nevertheless , the water system is screwed right now u
cannot drink it .

starpimps 11-17-2006 08:19 PM

yeah here in vancouver is crazy, we have poo and pee in our water

I am sorry, but if my water appeared "yellowish" I would not be any more inclined to drink it than if it were brown, black, green or any other color.

Like i said in some locations lower mainland ,
you can't really see the water color being yellow it
still comes out clearish from the tap . Trust me dude
if you were here you would NOT be able to tell , however
you might suspect something if you looked over at the toilet
:winkwink:

OG LennyT 11-17-2006 08:29 PM

goodness... make for the high ground

Tempest 11-17-2006 08:37 PM

I've been on a boiled water notice since Nov 3rd. And yeah, the water isn't "clear".

It's funny how spoiled everyone has become, or maybe if you've never lived in a rural area you would never realize that a lot of times the water can look "dirty". It's just natural when you're dealing with fresh water. Given I grew up drinking well water, I find it amusing watching everyone going crazy buying up bottled water.

Power was out here for just over 2 days. Got to stock up tomorrow as there's another storm coming. Don't think it will be as bad though.

Vitasoy 11-17-2006 08:38 PM

Yea the tap water is semi brown :(

sniperwolf 11-17-2006 08:44 PM

sad to hear about the continuous raining there.. I hope the electricity is doing just fine...

rip raster 11-17-2006 08:46 PM

I really don't mind the rain much and as far as the brown tap water goes I only drink bottled water so it makes no difference to me

theshooter 11-17-2006 08:53 PM

There is NO Bottled water here Downtown! This sucks! Fuck it I might just drink it.... or not.

Only yellowish? Then you should be safe... they said if it was brown not to drink it.

Just make sure you've boiled it for at least a minute before hand.

Um genius, rain is nothing new to Vancouver, the problem is the record volume.

marko13 11-19-2006 11:48 AM

i hate when it rain because you can;t go out... but i like it because it reminds me on good thing...

jakethedog 11-19-2006 11:54 AM

i think the reason webgurl posted this is because being here in the Vancouver lower mainland .. this is a huge deal .. we don't get bad storms ..earthquakes ..ice storms .. tornadoes ..hurricanes or anything that affects our lives that is some crazy act of God .. and this "little" storm by most of your standards actually caused the largest "boil your water " scare in Canada.. yeah and it only lasted 2 days for the most of us .. so we're back to normal ..wonderful west coast predictable weather ... kinda nice ..

They need to tell me since it looks clear coming out of the tap but you notice the brown tinge against a white background. Every thing was fine though 'till I hate breakfast at a restaurant yesterday and the next 2 hours were filled with *plop* *plop* *splooooooot* :(
