George St.Pierre Pounded Matt Hughes

I dont know if this has been posted but ufc lovers, it was an awesome fight.
Matt Hughes Finally got his butt whipped bad. No decisions, just a plain old butt whoopin...It was awesome

reynold 11-19-2006 06:43 AM

Too bad I missed that one. I guess I was watching boxing match then.

Kevsh 11-19-2006 09:51 AM

I'm surprised, I thought GFY would be all over this!

But yes, Hughes got it handed to him *BADLY*, he was never in it and clearly St.Pierre brings one of the most dynamic and exciting games to the sport. For so many matches you see UFC fighters tapping back and forth, takedown, full guard, etc etc etc etc etc.

Nice to see someone bring a unique style to the sport and be successful, whomever is going to beat Georges is going to need something more than grappling and takedowns or even boxing skills.

The heavyweight fight was disappointing as Sylvia was content to keep blocking Monson all 5 rounds - though he did an incredible job at it. As much respect as he deserves for his wins, that's 2 straight fights where he has basically bored the crowd to sleep.

Thankfully, the other matches and main event were thrilling, one of the better UFC cards in awhile.

:thumbsup

Sosa 11-19-2006 09:55 AM

yeah, it would have been over in the first round if he would have been knocked down 20 seconds earlier.

12clicks 11-19-2006 09:58 AM

when is the re-broadcast?

arealnewbie 11-19-2006 10:35 AM

I caught the end of the first round and of course all of the second. GSP took it to Hughes and its nice to see that Hughes got to eat some humble pie too.

rodney25 11-19-2006 11:33 AM

Awesome fight. I wasn't really expecting that win but good enough they offered us a great match. :thumbsup

Wagerboy 11-19-2006 12:19 PM

I lost my ass on that fight. Hughes is gonna really lose some rep cause he went down like a bitch. Really not typical of him (imo) What was better then the fight was the class shown by st pierre. top shelf fighter imo.

Yep there was some good action in all the fights. That being the best one. That kick to the side of the head of Matt was awesome. It was a french Canadian dude too.lol.

In the sport ? As much as I love GSP TONS of fighters are brigning their own style to the game... Gorilla Wanderlay Silva, Chuck Lidell, Fedor, Crocop, Rampage, Shogun and tons of other guys. Except maybe GST's weight class the Proud FC talent pool is probably deeper :)

Manowar 11-19-2006 12:37 PM

awesome fight

Snake Doctor 11-19-2006 12:42 PM

Shame I missed it. After Hughes beat Gracie it seemed like he was immortal

I vote this for dumbest quote of the year. Matt Hughes is still a living legend. Regardless of the outcome of that fight. It just makes the win the that much sweeter for Georges.
You let GSP hit you with a Muay Thai kick to the coconut after hes already kneed you in the head. Then let him follow it up with a fury of fists and elbows. Bitch is not the word, and Matts Rep is already cut in stone.:2 cents:
Check here for yourself. The Fight

Thank you. Can't stand bandwagon fans. If Matt Hughes had won then everyone here would be hanging on his balls instead.

Matt Hughes is a legend with a record of, I believe, 44-5. When St Pierre establishes himself close to that and defends his title as many times as matt hughes for as many years, then some of the comments here can be acceptable.

Robson 11-19-2006 01:12 PM

Will be watching it in a few hours on Bravo (uk) can't wait to see it, never liked hughs...bring on tito vs liddel in December!

This victory takes away nothing from Matt... he's been dominating the sport for 5 years and he's the most decorated UFC fighter.

A better contender just rised up in George St-Pierre and he'll probably stay there for a while. St-Pierre totally deserves what came to him...

adultsection 11-19-2006 01:21 PM

i saw it, awesome fight!

I thought it was humerous during the after fight interview with Matt when he said that it wasn't until he saw the replay that he realized it was a kick to the head . . . he had no idea what had hit him. I think he was looking for the license number of the truck. :1orglaugh

Vitasoy 11-19-2006 05:35 PM

GSP beat hughes to the punch everytime. I'm somewhat surprised, but props to GSP :)

Don't get me wrong, I was predicting a GSP win from the get go and I was nearly in tears, and had a headache from screaming so loudly after his win. I am a huge GSP fan and this was easily the most anticipated fight of the decade for me. Also I enjoyed watching Matt Hughes get KTFO, but to call Matt Hughes a bitch is a really dumb thing to say. He is a living legend, and only serve to elevate GSP that much more. :2 cents:

jerseygto 11-19-2006 06:33 PM

Bottom line GSP said what he was gonna do!! Matt hughes either wasnt on his game or its just one of those days where you lose...alot of great fighters have had devistating losses AND have come back from them Matt is a great fighter i do believe he'll be back and GSP keeps doin what hes doin he'll be another great champion!!:thumbsup

That wasn't a devasasting knockout... If you wanna see a devastating one download both of the Rampage VS Silva knockout videos.

I agree absolutely, I was really referring to UFC, not the "sport" in general so my mistake for not being clearer.

Most fans people have no clue about what's going on outside of the UFC ;) They figure it's the small leagues.
