Hoosier National Forest. I do this every year. This is REAL camping and I'm inviting anyone who can make it to Indy. Bring your shit*, I'll take care of everything else. I'm thinking middle of January. 'Bout a 3 day camp.

I usually trek up Gorgonio and it's peaks around this time of year... but haven't been able to make it past 2 years...

Its open to anyone who can show up. I'll have a date within a couple weeks. It'll be a 2 week window once I set that date to confirm because I gotta plan the whole thing out as far as rides and food and such.

On a GOOD note, I've been doing this for 15 years and we've only actually had snow 3 times. Indiana winters are getting really mild. Global warming or something, but ya never know.

Basically you need the shit to keep warm and a pack to carry it in. I'll handle most everything else. I'll put a list up if I get some interest.

nice, i was just checking to see if you were excluding anybody (ie will76), but you dont sound like you are, which is cool

i probably wont be able to make it, but camping/fishing is great, really throws you into a different perspective than the one i am used to, no computer, cell phone doesnt work, you have to walk, not drive, gets the primal instincts out

do you think that you could live out there for a month without your own supply of food? ie having to find things on your own to eat? ive always wanted to see if i was resourceful/knowledgeable to do this, it would give me a great sense of accomplishment on a different level than the one I am used to

I've been one some good summer campouts in Hoosier National Forest, back deep in the pines. Awesome place to go to get away from it all.

My boyfriend and I used to camp almost every weekend, even through the winter, but we haven't done it in two years. We didn't do any hiking but we rode quads and did other great redneck stuff. It was a lot of fun but I feel like if I did it now I'd be a whiny little bitch the whole time. :))
