It really depends. I have Mom, Dad, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 sisters in law, 2 nephews and 3 nieces. We all make lists ranging from high priced items to low priced items. I buy wine/candle/etc. gifts for friends and those whose parties I attend, and give some cash to the lady who works at the front gate. I usually end up spending a few thousand I guess.
We always do something "different" too. This year we are drawing names and you have to get something for that person that's less than $5, it has to make them laugh and it has be wrapped in yellow paper. Yeah, we're a little strange ;) |
1.5k for: parents, girlfriend, brother, sister and 2 good friends, the usual christmas cards for all mainstream business partners and a bottle of red wine for the really good ones.
|
I usually spend 200-400$
|
I'll spend around 1k this year.
Of course, that doesn't include the engagement ring I'm picking up for my girlfriend, but.. well, ya. |
A couple of $k on the kids...$500 maybe for everyone else.
|
A few thousand but this year, the money spent will be going towards things for different people. Mainly ourselves. :1orglaugh
|
$500 total for friends + family.
$1000 for me and wife on each other. This year we started early and the friends + family are 100% already done buying for. Wife: That's always a challenge each year to get her something really special since she has a mountain of jewelry already. Thinking of it ...a trip to vegas for us would be a blast as a xmas gift ;) |
Can't be bothered with it all this year. No spending as much on it as i used to.
Bah humbug !! |
I heard on the T.V. the other day, that the average house hold spends 800.00
One thing that can help with expenses is Pictures and Scrap-books, but we all know that doesn't work for the kids, lol. |
I give my kids each $100 cash and about $150 in presents. I cant afford to buy for moms, dads, brothers, sisters, neices and nephews anymore.
|
No g/f this year so about 500 on Mom
|
Like a hundred bucks for my god children and my family as well..

One of the things on my list was a recent picture of everyone that reflected them in a frame that reflected them. My brother is a huge Gators fan so I'll get something from him with a gator on it. My Dad loves to drive his Corvette around with the top down and his dachound sitting on his lap while the other drivers are avoiding him in horror - I'd love to get a picture of that :)
I have a lot of pics of the family but none recent and I thought allowing them to pick their own frames would add some personality to the wall I plan on putting them all. Plus it's a pretty inexpensive thing for those who don't have a lot of $$$. |
Around 1-1.5k usually
|
Maybe around $1,5k, no GF this time (atleast seems so now) so that saves a couple of 100 bucks, but I do buy for much more than I get presents for and I like it alot :)
|
Every year I give $5k to my parents, the refuse to take more, and I have to fight with them so they take the money.
The kids (18 & 15) normally about $1k, the wife gets a swift kick in the ass. :) |

and something nice for the parrents and the lady |
more or less 1k...
|
Hell I think I spend close to 500 on just food an crap for the days around the holidays. Then a few hundred more on some ornaments and crap (we collect them). Then well yeah prolly another 500-1000 on the girl, and another 500 to 1000 on assorted family members and friends.
|
not that much, in the mid 3 digits usually.
