'http://' - 'www.' and blogs

Has anyone noticed this before..

had a new-ish blog setup with:
www.domain it appeared in google quicker than I thought it would for some fairly nice terms (first page results), I changed the setting on a few of my blogs including the one I'm talking about so they were just: http://domain

Now this particular blog can't be found on the first 10 pages for any of the terms it had.

If google liked it with 'www.' shouldn't it still like it without 'www.' ?
atm I'm just waiting to see what google does with it over the next couple of days and may change it back.

http://www.domain and http://domain are seen as different URL's in a lot of cases I believe.

Best bet is to decide which one you want and then do some stuff with your htaccess to make it redirect to the one you want.

www. is a subdomain basically. :)

A lot of major finnish corporations don't realize this, and domain.com just goes to a 404.. where www.domain.com works. Idiots. :)

find what you wanna use and ALWAYS stick to it

www.domain.com or domain.com

I always use the www.domain.com. When I did some auto installs on some of my blogs, it installed them as domain.com and Google wouldn't spider/index them for shit. Changed it to www.domain.com and now every page is indexed.

Now you can tell Google which version to index using Webmaster Tools.
