Should I go after this guy?

Should I go after this guy for bouncing a check on me?

I made $328+ off this guy from a site that has 5.75 months of updates built in. He was a member long enough to watch all of the content twice.

I think he still owes me. :1orglaugh

Fat Panda 12-06-2006 01:33 AM

not for 29 bucks

After Shock Media 12-06-2006 01:33 AM

No.

You already nailed him for numerous months. Then the to old to refund issue seems to crop up when someone discovers that they never signed up in the first place.

Only reason I say the above is that the person who signed up, left out a phone number. Not sure if the address or anything else is quasi legit.

It is one of the costs of accepting checks. A percentage will come back or be fraud.

WWC 12-06-2006 01:34 AM

Have you discussed it with him? Maybe there was a bank issue....it happens ....and such a small amount....

xenigo 12-06-2006 01:35 AM

Is that a bounce, or a chargeback? I didn't think you could charge back an ACH transaction, but I could be mistaken.

Looks like a pretty loyal customer, Aaron. If he did indeed bounce the check, it may not have been intentional. He may sign up again when he's more financially sound.

Look it over it was a chargeback, and wanted to charge everything back to day one.

It's a returned check. They are listed as chargebacks but in fact are not. If they wanted to charge everything back then CCBill would have refunded October's payment as well.

And phone numbers never appear in those stats.

Of course I'm not going after this guy. It was a rhetorical question.

Thank you for playing.

It's all good.

Last year I didn't have a single chargeback. This year I am at 0.2% chargebacks and 1.3% returned checks.

Quality traffic on an invite only program makes a difference. :)

My guess is that the guy just didn't have the funds in his checking account this month. I'll send him a few DVD's from the site as a Christmas present for his loyalty. :thumbsup

Know what you mean. Took my sites invite only and the cb and rt went down to next to nothing.

Quite generous. I'm sure that will make him happy. If you're at 1.3% for your returned checks, that has to be some kind of miracle. I'm floating right around 50%. And I thought mine was pretty average.

I'd turn every one of them over to collections if it was that bad.

Probably never see a dime but it would be a fun thing to explain on their credit report when they go to buy the family a new minivan. :1orglaugh

I have $10k in chargebacks and returned checks from ccbill this year, can you turn them over to a collection agency?

I used to do this in 98-2000 and I charged a 50% return fee and usually got about 30% to pay back their charges plus the fee.. was thinking of doing it again.
