I had no money on me, stupid of me i know. I was stuck to use my epass card to pay for gas even though i never wanted to use epass, well the fucking CITGO put a 50 dollar hold on my money so i called epassporte and said how long it would take to released back to my account and they told me 7-10 business days and now its been 11 business days and now of course i am mad! I Call epassporte back and now they say it will take 30 business days. WTF? if i knew this originally i would of just claimed fraud which only takes 7-10 business days.

Thats epassportes minimum. The reason they do that is a gas pump only charges 1.00 to the card on most cards in order to fill the tank. This can allow you to overdraw your account. Epass is just protecting their best interests on this one Joel.

30 business days? lol jesus, I can get international third party starter checks cleared faster than that.

Why do I have a $50 authorization on my account when I haven't purchased $50 in fuel?

When you use your Visa Electron card to make a fuel purchase at the pump, we will authorize your transaction for US $50, as we do not know how much fuel you intend to purchase. These authorizations are removed from your account when the actual fuel purchase amount is received from the gas station merchant, usually within 7 to 10 business days.

epassporte is messedup , I can't load funds from my bank account , first they claimed it was my bank , when I check then they said they were going through an update, later when I checked this week they say it takes 7 to 10 business days... so I think next will hear from them is 30 days , ...damn suckers

I think its even in their TOS or on the page somehow, another reason not to use your epass to get gas.

Example:

Someone orders a server. The hardware vendor is late with the shipment, so even though SI promised 7-10 days, now it might be more like 30, through little to no fault of their own.

joel you are good with servers, but should never be allowed outside the NOC, let alone speak on topics like this.

Epassporte Rules!!!! its not their fault you cant read the terms. Sometimes I have shops that doublecharge my card, but Epassporte always have that cleared with Visa in 7-20 days

youre right, but its not the amount but the situation. Its like ordering a bottle of Cristal then finding out your wallet is at home and your friends are brokeass.

I hate situations like that. I double double check if I have cash on me when I fill up my car here, esp with gas prices here.

It works both ways. I have went well over $50 before and my epass account was only debited the $50 for several days until the total amount cleared.

Its not a real big deal. I put $50 even in every time I go to the pump now so its easier to balance my epass account.

Chris STFU even though i failed to read the FAQ does not mean I should have been lied to on the phone. When I called they said 7-10 buisness days and no longer. Also that should not be in the FAQ that should be well stated when you sign up. People normally do not read an FAQ untill something goes wrong.

OH and I just realized something!!!!! I went up to the cashier and told him how much gas i wanted to spend, therefor they know how much i put on it, which makes epass a bunch of fucking assholes and citgo as well.

50 dollars is alot of money when you live in san diego, have a pregnet fiance, and your own bills to pay, and not running your own buisness.

I went to Vegas and used it @ the nine steakhouse at the palms... they charged me the real amount for $700.00 and put a hold for $950 for 30 days... ePassporte suck BALLLLLLSSSSSSS :321GFY

I hate to break it to you, but this happens with regular credit cards at restaurants all the time.

Not to be an asshole here, but this isnt epassportes fault. its mentioned in detail in their FAQ and citgo and a few other gas stations put signs up on their gas pumps mentioning this fact. You can probably have the hold released if you call citgo's billing department and get them to contact epass to release the hold. It's citgo's hold thats on the cards, not epassporte's.

At Citgo and Chevron epass never works for me. All I ever get is a 30 day hold on $50 every time I try. My epass also no longer works at Wells Fargo ATMs. It used to but no more. A message pops up saying I need to contact the card issuer but I can go to a Bank of America ATM just down the street and get money out right away. Seems Wells Fargo has blocked the use of epass cards in it's ATM machines.

If I had done it...

Walk into the gas station, use the ATM, pay for the gas out of the $300 I received at the ATM.

I think what joel is mad aboute more is the fact they lied to him , not the 7 days.. the 7 days sucks but getting told its 7 days when its really 30 bites..

No thats not true. Ive used paypal at pumps for years, and it only authorizes for 1.00. I know this, because Ive filled my tank with only 2 dollars in my account on many occasions. :winkwink:

The release time is dependent on the company initiating the charges, not epass. 7-10 days is the norm, but it can take as long as 30 if the company doesnt reverse the charges. At 30 days Epass overturns the charges.

It sucks, but its in the FAQ and the terms. Thats why i never use the card for gas. i read this in the terms

Ive done it many times. I have an suv and when the gas prices were up I pumped 65 to 70.00 all the time. I did this with only 2 to maybe 35.00 in my paypal.

You think its ok to lie to your customers or not ? there arent too many choices... Either lying is wrong thus epassporte was wrong for lying , or lying is ok and epassporte did no wrong ?

Ive gone through the same thing before. The support person told me that it should be released by the company and returned to my account within 7-10 days, HOWEVER it is possible for it to be there as long as 30 days, at which point epass would overturn the charge at that time. So NORMALLY it is returned within 7-10 but, its POSSIBLE the charges could be held as long as 30 if the company initiating the charges did not reverse the charge. Its really not hard to understand. Epass has a smaller budget than say a chase, or a US bank would. Therefore they try to protect their liability with a bit more vigor.

First off i want to thank everyone who is supporting me on this one, and also to the ones who do not see it my way thats cool to, i am sorry for the way i responded to you Chris I was a bit steamed, everyone is entitled to there own views.

Second off regarding the hold on the money, still not here and as i posted early i walked in to the gas station, and went to the teller and said 5 dollars on 3. That is an exact charge there is no reason why 50 dollars should be held.

Third I am mad about the fact that it is held for 30 days but not because it will take 30 days but because an Epass rep told me no longer then 7-10 buisness days. I was expecting this money and if they told me it could take up to 30 days from the start it would suck but atleast I would have not counted on that money.

So even if its in the TOS or FAQ I should have been told this the first time i called, which is why I am mad at epassporte not just citgo.

So as of now I still say fuck epassporte, and citgo.

Lmao why would I lie? I used to do it ALL the time when I was tight on money back 5 or 6 months ago. Id run my paypal account negative. IN FACT Id do that to fill up both cars. I could do it with less than 6 bucks in my account. Id run my account negative for like a few days once the actual charges would show up. Usually I did this when I knew a client was due to pay in a few days, and we were tight on our normal checking account. No fees from paypal if you run it negative. Bunch of fees on checking if you run that negative. :winkwink:

Anywho Ill post screenshots from paypal soon as I get back from picking up my daughter. I just looked and I have 1.00 charge, then the full over 50.00 charge, and a 1.00 reversal. :winkwink:
