The Wii made me sore

After finally getting my Wii and playing the last couple of days my body is absolutely fucking sore. I am a pretty fit guy 6ft 1/175pounds so I am seriously surprised that the Wii has worked muscles I dont normally use lol. Be careful out there especially if you are used to sitting down in a dark basement pushing buttons on those old consoles. :thumbsup

Stomped 12-07-2006 02:47 PM

Shit, I want one of those suckers right now. But here in Argentina they sell it at 600 U$S :disgust

Splum - Glad you see you finally got mailed the Wii. I'm thinking about buying one. What game did you get with it and how good is the game?

pimplink 12-07-2006 03:29 PM

Wow. I am more impressed with Wii now.

tony286 12-07-2006 03:32 PM

so it can be a work out and a game?

You should read some articles on it. :) The sports package that comes with it sounds like a blast.

I have two stuck in my closet waiting for Christmas.

I don't want timelines if it has... ;-)

JD 12-07-2006 03:40 PM

Same experience here. Legs, arms, back, etc -- sore in strange places, even though "real world" exercise doesn't affect me the same way.

It resolves itself in a day or so .. at least, it did for me.

It came with Wii Sports(baseball, boxing, tennis, golf, bowling) and I bought the new Zelda. I dont play Zelda much but my son and my fiance do alot, I love the Wii Sports its very immersive. I was checking out Madden at Gamestop as well and its pretty intense with the Wii. For those that doubt the Wii as a real gaming system seriously you gotta TRY IT.

Got mine on ebay - they seem to be going for a little over $400 bucks. I spent $500+ on mine and its well worth it.

SlamDesigns 12-07-2006 05:05 PM

I play video games to relax, so I'm thinking the Wii isn't gonna be a good choice for me.

madawgz 12-07-2006 05:19 PM

nice, i cant wait to try it out :)

This is just one of many wii "workout" links. :) If you haven't seen the system, you should go to Nintendo and check it out. While it can use the standard game cube controller, the wii-mote (I know, it is a stupid name) and numchuck are designed for interactive play.

I guess I'm gonna have to get a Wii. I really want to download Stealth for the NES. Man I loved that game when I was a kid.

I played the Wii for a few hours before we packed it up until xmas and I have to say I was exhausted after playing tennis and boxing with the rest of my family. I broke the strap on the wii mote because there was a clothes rack that was too close to me and I hit it really hard during tennis. I also dove over the side of the bed trying to save a ball that went toward the other side of the court and almost killed myself. Yes be careful Wii players - make sure there are no obstacles around you. Once you are in the game and swinging you don't realize that you could hit some real objects.

omfg, that is awesome

I think I might pick up a Wii, it looks like so much fun

northboy 12-07-2006 08:38 PM

what good games are there for the WII , nothing for ps3 really interests me

Zebra 12-07-2006 09:12 PM

Wii sports is pretty good against another player, but it gets pretty repetitive in single player.
I'm waiting on Super Swing Golf to come out on the 15th. Looks really cool http://wii.ign.com/articles/743/743367p1.html

I can't wait for Wii Play. It's like Wii Sports, but adds more games. I've already got it pre-ordered .. comes out 01/15/06

Pilforgod 12-07-2006 09:32 PM

...

Boxing is easily a good workout....

If you break the strap or bang into stuff or anything your trying waaaay harder then you have to and probably deserve whatever you get lol. I have a 360, ps2 and Wii now and the Wii is the top pick atm.

marumari 12-08-2006 07:55 AM

Wii sports will keep you occupied for a few weeks - then theres excite truck that everyone says is the most fun racing game. They have Rappala Fishing, which I almost got. I think it would be tons of fun. Get to cast out and reel it in - just like the the real thing.

Yeap yeap it will give you a good workout. I was reading on some xbox sites that 12 year olds were complainig about being sore the next day :1orglaugh

Basic_man 12-08-2006 08:06 AM

I won mine too, last week. Playing Wii sports for a while, and my body is giving me some nightmare!! :)

Klen 12-08-2006 08:17 AM

I wonder will anyone make emulator for Wii on PC.

marumari 12-08-2006 08:23 AM

the Wii sucks if you don't have a controller to play it with. its basically a gamecube with sick controls.

Dirty F 12-08-2006 08:25 AM

That wireless controller does it work well? I mean if you hit a ball or something does it do what you want or does it just go somewhere random? I cant imagine it works good.

MaddCaz 12-08-2006 08:26 AM

yea thats what im worried about

kristin 12-08-2006 08:57 AM

It reminds me of the PowerPad at the time ...

I'm thinking about bring my old school Nintendo and PP to Vegas for drunken competitions at 5a. : )

Tom_PM 12-08-2006 08:59 AM

Wow, I remember when "atari thumb" was a huge issue, haha. Now people are hurting themselves, and letting the controller slip and smashing their tv's and windows and shit.. amazing!

the boyfriends nephew is totally into games and he's turned into quite the plumper because of it. maybe I should buy him the Wii so he get him to slim some pounds.

WebairGerard 12-08-2006 09:11 AM

LOL that's great! They should come out with a game that simulates going to the Gym! :)

Ben.Z 12-08-2006 09:25 AM

I heard some people have accidentally thrown their controller into the TV while playing the bowling game. Wouldn't that suck?! :1orglaugh I'm pretty sure my fiance' has a wii under the tree for me. I can't wait to play this thing! :)

Surprisingly the controller is extermely responsive, it has settings you can set too like sensativity(just like a mouse on a computer) so no worries. When I swing a racket my Mii swings, when I punch at an enemy my character punches. I thought the Wii might be just one of those gimmicky things but seriously I think someone finally got virtual controls right.

LittleSassy 12-08-2006 09:55 AM

im waiting to get my hands on Wii too :thumbsup

Sounds good.

marumari 12-08-2006 10:51 AM

yeah the Wii remote ROCKS. Its totally responsive in all the games that I played. I haven't made it far in zelda yet cuz i was too busy playing tennis and boxing. got all the good games coming for xmas. I wish they could hook up something to your legs too so you could play soccer or kick boxing that would rule.

wow, sounds like they got the video game experience nailed down :) it can only grow from here. Like someone in this thread said, having leg sensors (for kicking and such) would be killer!! The technology is finally here, let the ideas for new concepts begin! :thumbsup

marumari 12-08-2006 11:53 AM

yeah seems like it would be super easy to make some velcro censors for the legs. then you've got the remote and nunchuck in your hand so you could do Tekken style fighting no problem.

Sosa 12-08-2006 12:14 PM

Been trying to find one here, and haven't had any luck
