TexasDreams - GFY is REALLY messed up
 

not sure if you know or not, you probably do, but tons of shit on GFY is all fucked up

- hitting QUOTE does nothing, just brings you to the standard reply screen
- the front page often just freezes up and never updates
- views/replies is almost always off

this was just what I noticed in the past 2 minutes

yep,, been that way for like over an hour.. they're cleaning shit up.

depends on what time of day it is

they all happen on and off, never constant

but I did notice the quote thing starts happening right before the front page freezes

everything seems to be working right now.

Everything work fine

make sure your hitting quote and not the " icon that is multi quote which means you select a bunch of them and then go to reply and it will quote them all at once, and I havnt seen any freezing

I wonder if there is a round robin updating or resyncing or something?

works in firefox 2.0 havent had it happen yet for me at least.

the front page freezes in time

the views/replies thing seems to be off and on at random times though

my guess is that they use mysql replication and one of their slaves (or several)
breaks around that time (or maybe a sched backup).

people always seem to reply like 'works fine now' while the problem is ON AND OFF. Get a clue people, this board is far from 'working fine', it may be at the moment you post but 15 minutes later its fucked up again.

1:29am pst the board stops updating for around an hour..........i figured td was giving the gerbils a break or something........i just use it as my que to go to sleep now.....

I've seen it. It happens around 2am Pacific time, daily when they kick the backups off. I'm not sure how they have this set any more (Playboy I.T. doing it now). When the backup triggers it pretty much locks down the system for about 20-minutes, and then the slave (replicated) database lags for another 20-minutes while it catches up in-synch with the master. :Oh crap

as long as it is a known issue, sorry you can't fix it, that must frustrate you, LOL
