What do you think about global warming of the planet?

Don't you think that crazy things are happening, i mean, see what happened in England, then all this heat... here in Italy it's crazy, seems to be in september while it's december, only this weekend it snowed a little....i think that seasons are revolving...what are your concerns regarding that?

stickyfingerz 12-11-2006 07:59 AM

Dont get me started... lol :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :helpme

I think soon we'll all be pretty much fucked if the world does not get together on a plan to prevent it from getting worse.

stickyfingerz 12-11-2006 08:11 AM

Ok this post was in regards to a 20/20 show that cast gloom and doom on the planet in many different scenarios.

Global warming they went on about how hurricanes have increased blah blah. No they were worse back in the early 1900's and even in the 50's Add to the fact that we didnt even really have a hurricane season this year and you'll see they are full of shit, and the earth just has natural warming and cooling cycles.

Why are their tempeture readings up slightly compared to 100 years or so ago that we have records for?

1. Frequency and acuracy of record keeping.
2. Urban spread. Theres a billion or so miles of concrete and asphault we didnt have 100 years ago.
3. They are recording the tempetures around all that concrete, and not the fields and forests that used to be there. Simple as that.

Global warming is a silly scare tactic. How many remember how Greenpeace came to be? Anyone Anyone Bueller? Bueller?

Thats right to help spread the word and stop us from going into an impending iceage due to man using hairspray too much. lol

Ozone layer? What happened with that? Did it shrink? No the hole didnt increase in size since the 50's when they first discovered it. Only shifts and changes in shape. The actual size of it hasnt changed. Yet we heard shit about it every day for years and years. Doom of us all. Every scientist agreed according to the media. We all were going to die of skin cancer due to the shrinking of the ozone layer.. Blah blah blah blah. How bout soil errosion? What happened with that? I remember hearing about that everyday over and over. All our soil was going to run into the ocean. We'd have no soil to farm blah blah blah.

Deforrestation. All our oxygene was going to be gone due to us using up the trees. Blah blah blah. Feel free to let them lead you down the primrose path folks. Use a bit of logic. Ask your grandparents how hot it was when they were kids. Summers were hotter even when I was a kid back in the 70's.

Global warming is a farce. If we all die from global warming in 10 years well then Ill be wrong haha.

Its already happening with Kyoto etc., but some countries are not willing to sacrifice.

Jakke PNG 12-11-2006 08:11 AM

Global warming is a myth.

I'll go play a round of golf tomorrow, which is quite normal thing to do mid-december in Scandinavia. I can only thank the good ole USA, who are singlehandedly accountable to about 25% of world's glasshousegases. Thank you. I hate snow you see.

StuartD 12-11-2006 08:13 AM

It'll be great... I hope we all die quick. The planet will cleanse itself and start over again with a much better species of sentient life... hopefully they'll actually learn to appreciate more than their own little insignificant self all the time.

its all leonardo dicaprios fault, he told oprah that global warming exists and she told all those women... the women started yap yapping about it and all that hot air is melting the polar caps.

I think Global Warming, along with Global Freezing, has been happening in cycles for millions of years.

WE didn't kill the dinosaurs off - there are just some things in nature beyond our control ;)

Chris Corn 12-11-2006 09:07 AM

Stupid to focus on global warming. The earth has gone through many cooling and warming cycles in the historical past....let's focus on AIR QUALITY instead. It can be measured. Let's make the earth greener and cleaner instead of black. This IMO is more important then how hot or cold the earth is. I honestly think global warming is unprovable and a myth. Small fluctuations in temperature can be from a lot of sources that we dont understand....we just think we are so powerful that we can change the temperature of the earth. AIR QUALITY!

The air quality is loads better than it was in the late 70's Unbelievably better really. We arent all that bad off right now.

NIce comparison, but we still get SMOG days here in Toronto. I dont think we need smog days. If you're only going back 100 years though, you are missing the best part air quality days i.e. pre industry, pre greed, pre industrial war. We will eventually find a way to live symbiotically with the earth. The earth has needs and they need to be met too.

You dont get anything even remotely close to what it used to be like. Its like comparing a the flame from a zippo to a nuclear blast.... lol

Americans seem hardly concerned:

Then again, the average american pollutes more than any other nationality in the world.

Scientists have detected a warming on all of the planets in our solar system. So if "global warming" is caused by humans, how did we raise the temperature of all the other planets?

PHP-CODER-FOR-HIRE 12-11-2006 10:04 AM

I think the rise in temperature, if it is even true, has more to do with the fact that we're paving the entire earth (you can cook eggs on hot pavement even here in Canada in the summer), and less to do with greenhouse gases.

thanks for pointing out the correlation between smog and global climate change!

LadyMischief 12-11-2006 10:12 AM

Ya right.. that's why exactly the same type of warming trend happened several thousand years ago, and climatologists have been trying to get it removed from the official records because they feel that it undermines their efforts with regards to global warming? This kind of warming trend is nothing new, and considering a lot of the other factors that are involved, mankind's contribution is somewhat like fleas on the back of a dog. Detrimental, but hardly a catalyst.

Peaches 12-11-2006 10:22 AM

I blame cows pooting.

Al Gore invented the Interweb. If he says we're burning ourselves to smithereens, then by golly, I believe him.

I'm selling both my SUVs and cutting off all power and water to the house. Walking 8 miles each way up and down mountain roads to the store should keep me in shape. I have a trip planned to San Francisco in Feb, but since I'm sure planes use fuel, I'm leaving tomorrow AM to start walking to make it there on time. I'm suppsed to be going to Mississippi in Jan, but obviously, I can't make both trips.

I cannot, however, control the excessive pooting caused by 4 pugs :(

I actually canceled a trip to Alaska last week (would be coming home tonight) because it was raining their instead of snowing. I blame the moose. Or Exxon.

Joey Skulls 12-11-2006 10:42 AM

Most of the weather changes we are seeing are in big part due to global warming, but the last giant Tsunami that hit Bangkok and others was so powerful that it shifted the earths axe by 2 degrees...think about it, the earth shifted 2 degree..Thats alone is enough to cause weather changes and all the other weird things we are seeing every year.

The questions is not wether the earch is gonna blow up or not; it's When!

Till then, enjoy life my brothers and sisters :pimp , we are in for a ride!

pornguy 12-11-2006 10:44 AM

I do my part. I burn matches all the time, and use a gas stove. Adds lots of heat to the over all warming

hotest winter for 150 years - they say

notabook 12-11-2006 10:52 AM

Global Warming as it is currently being presented is bullshit. Logically though, global warming has to be real to a certain extent. Let’s look at our own bodies for example. What happens if you constantly eat fatty foods, and don’t exercise enough? Eventually our bodies become obese, morbidly obese, or worse, and become prone to heart disease, diabetes, and more. Eventually our bodies shut down and we die.

The Earth can be looked at the same way but on a much larger scale. Right now it is my firm belief that the Earth is doing more than enough ‘exercise’ to deal with our pollution (fatty foods). That doesn’t mean there still isn’t plaque build-up, however. As more and more humans end up sprawling on her surface eventually we will outstrip Earth’s ability to cope. When will this point happen? Who knows. Let Al Gore figure it out.

Interesting. Tell the people in the midwest of the US that - they just went through an ice storm earlier than normal. We here in GA just had the coldest days in years. People in FL were complaining about cold weather all last week.

I've seen global climate graphs for the last 5000 yrs (estimates based on core samples of ice taken in the arctic and antarctic regions) and this global warming trend is only about 10 degree over 200 yrs, in the 4800 yrs before that the temperature was on a constant decline. This could be a hickup, or the planet could be in the midst of a normal temperature fluctuation. Nobody know, but hey, that doesn't grab headlines, or push a scientific agenda so instead of finding out they labeled it global warming and used it to curb the use of fossil fuels.
