Serial killer victims #4 and #5 found today

The police just said that two more bodies have been found in Ipswich area..both naked women and dumped very near each other. Pretty hard to say this isn't a serial killer now.

When I was little I thought that a serial killer was something to do with Corn Flakes.

Mediachick 12-12-2006 09:46 AM

Creepy :( Do they know how they've been killed?

Maybe the rise in the number of serial killers has something to do with our society's failure to properly nurture our youth... honestly, do you think that television babysitters and endless consumerism are positive traits? If so, than you should be glad to see that serial killers are merely behaving the same way with human life that we do with our obsessions in acquiring the next great gadget... after we've played last week's gadget to death!

"Rise" in the number of serial killers? It's been happening for centuries. Ever heard of Jack the Ripper?

Ross 12-12-2006 11:07 AM

I was reading in the papers today as well that in the early 90's there was a few unsolved murders of prostitutes in that area...

They're not saying its the same guy, but they're saying that you don't just wake up one day and become a serial killer. It might just be conicidence but only time will tell...

i hardly think it was a "rise" in serial killers.

think about how many people (even up to almost the turn of the century) used to die and their demise was attributed to something supernatural like a werewolf or vampire.

i don't think there has been a rise, just the better ability to identify the work of our fellow man. instead of blaming it on supernatural phenomonon.

If anything there hasn't been as many that we have *heard about* in the last few decades. The 70's and 80's was the heyday of the modern serial killer for some reason that is probably the pre-dna testing nature of the era.

GlydeGirl 12-12-2006 11:32 AM

You may disagree that our current selfish consumerism lifestyle is a huge contributor to the increase in serial killers, but where do you think that the seeds of narcissism and lack of accountability come from if not from a society that abandons children for the television so the parents can be overworked at a job that underpays them, leaving them no energy or time to spend with their children at the end of the day to raise them properly?

Maybe you can't see these statistics firmly yet (kinda like the environmental decay stuff that we were alerted to in the 1970s), but give us another 15 years and you'll be agreeing that there are WAY more killers out there than there should be!

reynold 12-12-2006 10:35 PM

That's seriously scary, man. :(

BusterBunny 12-12-2006 10:39 PM
