Can you get a tattoo removed?

Without scaring? I hear laser is pretty painful and can leave a scar uglier than the tattoo. :helpme Anyone have any info...Thanks :-)

This is so tempting... but I won't say anything :)

It depends on the color, size, and your ability to heal, amoungst other things.

ive heard that the laser treatment completely removes the tattoo with little to no scaring but hurts ten times as much as getting the tattoo and you have to do it in multiple stages

electric sander

:thumbsup :thumbsup

The plastic surgeon my lady works for does tat removal. Many things factor in to how many times it needs to be done. And yes, the laser hurts.

laser hurts and it takes much time, you will have to go about 10 times to the procedures, depends on tattoo

You need to turn your skin to the back.

it depends on the tattoo....if its not too big and nasty, you can get it covered up with a better one

If you don't like your tattoo just get a bigger one to cover it up ;-)

Ironically, my girlfriend just had her first removal session today, about 2 hrs ago. She has had 4 tattoos and she said that the laser was the worst pain she has ever felt. "...like a hot sewing machine on my skin..." Luckily, it only lasted 5 minutes. I think she will be very happy when it is completely gone.

Actually it's not for me it's for my little brother (he's 23...lol) got some bad ink and now he regrets it...Tsk...tsk...tsk!

tenletters 12-15-2006 11:30 PM

saw an ad for this stuff on howard stern... http://www.wreckingbalm.com/
havent a clue if it works though

tenletters 12-15-2006 11:32 PM

"We will send you the incredibly potent but safe Demo-Brasion spray and medicated Diffusing Cream to fade and lighten the tattoo, while our special formula, skin-matching Body Spackle concealer covers and conceals your tattoo. Fade it into oblivion with the WreckingBalm System!"

haha, nevermind... body spackle lmfao

tenletters 12-15-2006 11:37 PM

well after reading more the "spackle" appears to only be needed if you wish to conceal the fading tat until the other stuff has a chance to work.

still, it seems like voodoo or snake oil.

Pete-KT 12-16-2006 01:17 AM

better to get it covered up

Yes you can get them removed, a friend of mine had one removed and she doesnt have a scar. It also depends on the color the the tattoo. Black and grey are the easiest to get rid of but blues, yellows and greens wont work with the laser as far as I know. Another friend of mine had an anime character on his arm when he was younger and wanted it off, it was in full color. The doctor turned him away and said that the laser would break apart the ink and cause it to blur but not remove it. He said because the tattoo contained yellow, light floresant type blue and green that the treatment would be inafective.

I hear this radio commercial all the time for people suffering tattoo regret (I love that term!) and they sell something called "Wrecking Balm" ...
