What's the deal with the new EU passports?

is it true if we don't have a new one from jan 1 we wont be able to travel ?

I've heard no such thing.. I do know the new bio-passes came this fall. But when my wife went to get a new passport in July with my last name she asked if she ought to wait for the biopasses that came a few months after that, and she was told it wasn't necessary...

my last passport was issued 2 years ago,im afraid its not good to travel now,i'll better go and ask

I have not heard of such thing that vaild (not expired) passports should be replaced.

That sounds like absolute nonsense

I'm flying a few times just before and after NYE. Where did you hear this?

DutchTeenCash 12-16-2006 06:14 AM

not true

The Jan 1 date is 2008 and for something completely different. Used to be Jan 2007 then Jun now Jan 2008 and its for entering the US through other countries eg Canada.

Somebody is feeding you bullshit. There are new EU standard passports, but it will be years before they refuse travel to old passport holders.

Except to the States of course... with the idiots they have in charge you can expect 5 minutes notice of changes to their policies.

thank you guys. I was asked by 3 different ppl over the last month or so if i had a new passport due to some changes coming. I didn't find any info on the net and it was kind of odd since a 2y.old passport is like new. I've seen some passports issued in the last months and they have very small differences with mine. Basically the picture and less personal data, but nothing else.

I dont need passport since i can enter into european union with my identity card only.
