Fucking Trillian

I add a new contact and then log of and then log back on and the contact is gone, i have to re add everytime i log back on wtf

I am going to go back to ICQ, fuck trillian.

spasmo 12-29-2006 05:54 PM

I've been using Trillian for years and have never had that issue. Are you sure you aren't hitting the upper limit for maximum contacts?

I'd hate to see you have to go back to the ICQ app.

Huh?

Anyhow, it appears the problem is wide spread. What version are you using? 3.1 pro build 121 here.

uno 12-29-2006 06:18 PM

Yah, its a contact limit thing. I have about 30 people more than I should on my contact list and it always gets fucked up.

stickyfingerz 12-29-2006 06:30 PM

I have no issues and have tons of contacts 3 or 400 at least maybe more.

Using Trillian Pro.

madawgz 12-29-2006 06:30 PM

trillian used to fuck with me so i stopped using it too

Mr.Right - Banned For Life 12-29-2006 09:14 PM

I did not know there was a limit.

I have 500 contacts in there.

Turn off your local firewall and the problem should go away. :2 cents:

... and your feeling of security should go away then also :winkwink:

bizarredollars 12-30-2006 05:35 AM

I have never had that problem before.. I love trillian :)

demetrio27 12-30-2006 05:57 AM

Try the new Meebo service. It's just like Trillian, but it's browser-based (flash) and free. You can login to all the different types of IM services from it -- MSN, Google Talk, AIM, ICQ, et cetera.

Pimpin_J 12-30-2006 06:00 AM

Check out Miranda :) Its nice !

Klen 12-30-2006 06:07 AM

Miranda and meebo sucks, trilian is best. After using all kinds of multiple messengers i conclude trilian is best.I didnt ever have any major problems with him.

Trixxxia 12-30-2006 06:17 AM

It's a limit on the contacts you can add. Sometimes, it's because the person you add didn't approve you after you closed or is 'invisible' when you add them.

Get an additional ICQ number and add it in another profile group, Batts, it should solve your problem until the next version is out. *Hopefully*

True, unless you have a router in-between like I have.

or you could just configure trillian to be used with a wirewall too....

r34lg33k 12-30-2006 09:56 AM

am sold Trillian for the following reasons.

- actual USEFUL Search feature! Unlike ICQ's & Yahoo's
- centralised logs // you can get ex: 3 computers linked to the same files
- resource usage // 1 trillian with 3 connections is the avg of 1 ICQ5 running.

trillian crashes every once in a while but then so does msn & icq, i must admit i've never experienced a Yahoo crash but then .. i didn't stay in Asia long enough lol.

over the years, i've noticed log files size affects trailian's stability the most.
Either prune those big ones or break 'em down.

User limiting is a common programming practice and don't blame trilian for that, just try and add those in the regular IM application, sometimes the limit is even lower.

The true downside in using trilian is the fact that since ex:msn uses a proprietary protocol to manage their data, therefore just like M$ did with protocol v8, trilian can stop working for an extended period of time until the compatibility returns in the likely form of an upgrade.
