Laon.com - Typo Sold for 500,000+

Laon.com dropped at SnapNames.com - When the dust cleared just a few minutes ago, the name sold for $500,249.00

What a deal, considering Loan.org sold for $105,500 little less than 2 weeks ago.....

Woah. Snapnames just cleaned the fuck up.

JustinBackDoorCash 01-02-2007 03:51 PM

The Best part about this, is the guy who allowed the name to expire is going to be recieving a check for about $80,000!!!

Probably has no clue about the money. He will most likely be pretty upset at himself for allowing the name to expire.

Violetta 01-02-2007 04:01 PM

site is at least down lol... 500k for that domain is way too much

Juilan 01-02-2007 04:09 PM

Can I ask how you know they are rarely confused?

baddog 01-02-2007 06:55 PM

I was trying to figure out what it was a typo for. Laon and loan I doubt are mixed up that often.

DateDoc 01-02-2007 06:57 PM

If you type fast or at a decent clip you can easily hit the a before the o. I do stuff like that all the time.

Mr.Right - Banned For Life 01-02-2007 06:58 PM

Thats huge.

:thumbsup

If laon.com went for 500k lian.com should go for 750k, easy.

L-Pink 01-02-2007 07:23 PM

I wouldn't extend credit to anyone that came from laon.com :2 cents:

Splum 01-02-2007 08:08 PM

The typo is actually the price not the domain.

Vitasoy 01-02-2007 08:08 PM

Yep, keys don't need to be beside each other to get mixed up. Sometimes it's just the order.

marko13 01-03-2007 03:55 AM

wow.... that is really a lot of money for that domain....

pradaboy 01-03-2007 03:57 AM

The buyer is actually an adult domainer :glugglug

High price but he can afford it to play on 10 years revenue or longer.

DjSap 01-03-2007 09:20 AM

Because O is next to L I would think the typo would be not so common, especially if the person is a bad typer who does it slowly. Now good typers who type fast can make that mistake, however the stereotypical person who seeks a loan by typing loan.com it into a browser :) is probably a bad typer, then again they might be shitty spellers so that might be an advantage.

You guys kill me.

JustinBackDoorCash 01-03-2007 09:53 AM

I thought this domain name would have fetched around $250,000 - but after considering what a fellow Domainers told me yesterday. We guessed that the domain name parked would bring in around $200 per day - it would take years at that rate to get a ROI - however durring that time the value of the domain name will probably increase - eventually one of the big Mortgage places will probably pick it up to direct traffic their way. Whats a few million to CountryWide?

I believe the domain expired at Network Solutions (called NS from here out). NS then sends the domain name to auction at SnapNames. The original owner is then cut in for a piece of the sale. Ive been told it is between 10-20%.

So, the guy who allowed the domain name to expire - (may not even realize it was valuable) will be recieving a check from NS for around $80,000 (was the estimate I heard).

Nasty-Ass 01-03-2007 12:01 PM

fck, I didn't know that - actually not a bad deal, since he would never've got the exposure w/o snapnames for that....

Crazy stuff...

$5 submissions 01-04-2007 04:11 AM

Domains (including typos) are like real estate. I only see prices going up over the long haul.

en21 01-04-2007 04:53 AM

not bad for 1/2 a mil

ToplistBlog_Com 01-04-2007 07:32 AM

Not bad, crazy stuff

FunkyDog 01-04-2007 07:54 AM

Loazn.com is still available. On an azerty keyboard this could be a good typo. Let's see who grabs it first :1orglaugh

Nysus 01-04-2007 07:58 AM

I wonder what the average credit rating for people who typo Loan.com would be.. :)
