Mr. LightSpeed - Jordan Capri Question
I know I am a little late on the news that Jordan quit porn and I am just reading up on everything (I guess I got too caught up with Crissy quiting and finding Jesus) - I was wondering how old the below is because that blog has no date stamps - taken from http://www.dazereader.com/24000880.htm
Quote:
Jordan Capri's retirement from online porn and her subsequent criticism of the "completely negative, evil industry" have been topics of discussion on various internet porn business message boards. (Caveat: there's no way to be 100% certain that people are who they say they are on message boards or MySpace blogs. My best guess is that all quotes here and in the previous Daze item are legit.)
The owner of the company "Jordan Capri" worked for, who goes by the nom de porn "Steve Lightspeed", told his side of the story:
Let me explain the "reality" --- all girls "quit" -- it has happened to every model I have worked with. Tawnee, Taylor, Aly, Raimi -- they all quit, then went into the real world, found out that sucks, then tried to find another photographer, only to realize that I treated them very well after all.
Before you feel "bad" for Jordan, remember that she made nearly $200k in 18 months!
Jordan has "quit" now too, but I expect her to be back soon too. The only difference here is she (or someone near to her) has posted a blog that you have stumbled upon.
This story isn't finished being written, but thanks for the promotion! While Jordan is taking a break, we're still updating her site (we shot way ahead, yes, we actually plan for this shit).
And more from Steve Lightspeed:
Let me just post a little of what Jordan wrote on another board, for those of you that want to feel sorry for her:
I do feel lucky to have chosen to work for Lightspeed, as they did treat me well (as far as always paying me on time/as promised and not pressuring me into doing anything I didn't want to do) as I know there are alot of complete sleazeball places out there.
There were two main reasons for me leaving. 1) My religious beliefs, 2)There was an unbeliveable amount of negativity from people I had to deal with/work with that brought me down everytime I encountered it.
The "negativity" she is speaking of was, unfortunately, ME. I got mad at her for missing photo shoots, being late, and telling the other girls that they weren't as popular as her and how they didn't make as much money as her. Yep, I got pissed off. That's called being the boss. Jordan made more money in 18 months than she will probably make again in the next 10 years. Cry not for "poor little Jordan".
Photographer Niko Bimini, whom the ex-Jordan calls "still good friends" and "a cool guy (not your typical nudie photographer)" on her MySpace profile, joined the fray to quash the badmouthing and rumormongering.
NO ONE in this thread knows the whole story ecept for me so everyone should back the fuck off. I know we get caught up in GFYLAND but there are real people and real lives going on here.
I am very good friends with Jordan Capri. I am also good friends with Steve and Shannon LightSpeed.
I can tell you 100% without a doubt that Jordan does NOT want to cause drama or issue for Steve or his business. She quit and there was NO big blow up, no drama, and no issues at all. She simply decided she didn't want to modle anymore. Steve and Jordan have been working together fro almost 3 years and have had there arguements but that is personal shit. NOTHING to do with LightSpeed or its business I can assure you.
Fair enough. Her blog comments didn't identify any people or companies by name, and were obviously written for her real life friends, not for industry insiders.
One rival company owner responded to Jordan's "duped" and "taken advantage of" account:
yes so young and naive ... rrrrrrrrrrrrrrright ...
did she think jesus was taking the nude pictures of her? or was the nudity some sort of biblical shoot?
she should be honest. I was young, dumb, broke, and hot ... and my boyfriend at the time, ie the evil one, got me into shooting nudes and then I signed a contract and shot a bunch of pics and oddly everyone seemed to really like them. I didnt get paid enough though.
Content vs Producer ... happens all the time.
I dont see how lightspeed comes out bad in this ... heck, they paid her ... many more just would get bounced checks and shot content for other companies.
Another rival company owner wrote:
These girls all have a date when they 'quit' the biz. Some find God, some get giant tatts on their tits and get a job at pizza hut and some come back when rent is due. This is why you need many eggs in many baskets.
We have had all three happen. lol which is why I love when a responsible one comes along who treats this like a business venture...rare but it happens. Those are my favorite.
Some industry chatsters were supportive.
She was a model, she got out.. reevaluating her life and her decisions. I didn't really see any drama, just a girl wanting to get on with her life and maybe leave some of the things she felt bad about behind her. No need for anyone to talk shit about her. She seems to know what she wants, and is working 2 jobs and going to school.
Some not so supportive.
She will try the "Real" world for a little while. and then realize that she has to work hard. Every day. And be treated like shit. Then one day, she will open her eyes, late on the car payment, and the rent, and she will spread her legs.
A woman who owns and operates her own solo girl site responded:
Isn't that what going to college and getting a 'real' job is for? I don't plan to be in the adult biz forever - which is why I'm attending college - and loving it. After graduation I'm movin' on! I think it's great to see girls moving on with their lives. Just because it's great money doesn't mean it's going to keep me tied into the biz forever. It's just giving me a great cushion for later on in life.
