best way to format a hdd if i don't want to use the shitty windows cd.
 

ok i want to format my laptop not using the windows cd which comes with it because i heard it won't format completly with it.

any suggestions?

Many harddisk manufacturers have such a tool for partitioning/formatting a drive on their homepage for free. But it's not always easy to find these tools.

Download the Windows 98 bootdisk and format from dos.

Windows 98 bootdisk will not allow you to format hard drives greater than 40Gb, or in NTSC format

If you want a decent format either do a full format though the dreaded CD as stated or get onto your harddrive manufacturers site and do a complete format using a zero fill programme
