.XXX still alive? New proposed registry contract posted (comments until Feb 5, 2007)
ICANN tonight posted a newly revised proposed agreement with ICM for operation of the .XXX TLD. See:
http://www.icann.org/announcements/a...nt-05jan07.htm "The ICANN Board considered the agreement at its meeting on 10 May 2006 and voted not to approve the agreement as proposed, but did not reject the application." The major changes between this proposed agreement and the last one are summarized at: http://www.icann.org/tlds/agreements...es-05jan07.htm (although it would make sense to review the entire agreement, to ensure that the summary is accurate; given the past issues with differential pricing, etc., registries are known to be sneaky) |
Perfect timing for them to have posted the proposed contracts, by the way, right before the Internext adult domain name auction!

Why won't this thing die????!!!????

Someone wanna post the e-mail address? I am too lazy to go find it, and I have done enough declared enough wars from my keyboard this week.
|
[email protected] is the email address for comments. They'll send you an email to confirm the comment, before they post it to the comments archive at:
http://forum.icann.org/lists/xxx-icm-agreement/ Comments from the prior comment period are at: http://forum.icann.org/lists/xxx-tld-agreement/ if folks needed a refresher as to why they opposed it. :) |
welll not this shit again
how come we beat them and 7 months later they are back seriously, we gonna read what has changed in this new proposed agreement and then oppose it again. Actually regardless what has changed, we need to oppose it. Let's hope there will be similar response from our industry as in May 2006.. |
dont forget to post seriously
|
I tried to post and they never sent me back a confirm email.

I get the feeling ICANN is going to keep doing this, over and over, until people in the industry get tired posting their opposition, then they'll say 'well barely anyone opposed, its passed'.
DON'T FALL FOR THIS EVERYONE EMAIL: [email protected] E-Mails are then posted automatically to their forum here: http://forum.icann.org/lists/xxx-icm-agreement/ If its filled with people against .xxx - it wont pass - so get off your asses and spend 30 seconds sending an email! COLLEGES, JOBS, and peoples WIFES will block .xxx - can you afford to lose half of your traffic????? |
Sadly this will happen over and over again, until our industry wakes up and realizes its power...the power we have is to come together as 1...to govern ourselves and not let ruthless greedy people such as the .XXX group or any other group try to steam roll another stupid idea that could hurt all of us.
Until that day ...plan on seeing this more and more, as our business grows.... :2 cents: I sent my letter in, has everyone else? |
|
for every post against .xxx you post - I will post in favor of it
i'm whiling to stop doing this for a small fee via paypal |
If you are a program/paysite owner and read this, PLEASE take a few minutes to email your affiliates and let them know about this and the importance of voting to knock it down. There is more info at http://www.FightTheDotXXX.com.
More info in this thread as well: http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=693350 |

Why can't we just use the subdomain xxx instead? http://xxx.gfy.com - just as easy to filter and we don't lose our domains.

We ALL need to get everyone we know to send an email to ICANN urging a denial of xxx.com ---let's not just get upset, instead let's rally folks to stand up and be counted, i.e., email ICANN.

Absolutely, frucking, ridiculous.
I'd like to know a list of companies who support .XXX so I can immediately stop doing any business with them. Anyone? |

Took a good while for the confirmation email to come through, but it finally did.
|
I see that keeping the .xxx discussion to one thread (from FightThePatent) doesnt seem to work.
In theory, its a good thing to discuss everything there, but not on GFY - because if people see only one thread about it, they automatically think that it's not really something important. If they see 5 threads daily like in case of Zango, then they pay attention. sad but true. So here's a bump... |
bump....
