Long time away from GFY. What's with the ePass/PayPal trades?

Long time away from GFY. What's with the ePass/PayPal trades?

Why are people swapping payments and offering a profit? I don't get it. I haven't spent time on GFY in a long time so I'm WAY out of the loop.

getting money into epass is like pulling teeth
and alot of people have money in paypal but not epass, sometimes they need epass to pay for things and dont want to go through the headache so they trade

Well shit man, welcome back.

WarChild 01-17-2007 09:31 PM

Yeah like starpimps said, often people have money in one currency but need to pay in something in another. The "profit" is offerer to cover fees and as a little perk.

For instance, I don't use paypal really, but I keep money in Epass from sponsor payments. If I _HAD_ to pay somebody that only accepted paypal, I might lookf or such a transfer.

Watch out for scammers of course, they'll hit you for a trade but not deliver.

So it's not a scam? I agree, ePassporte is a pain in the ass. It just looks like a scam when someone offers 1000 dollars for 800 dollars.

I have a lot of money in both accounts so I'm good for a trade at a profit if I know you. :)

well, that is pretty crazy

I had someone do it for me earlier, I gave them $65 and they gave me $58

if someone was to develop an automated system for this, they would rack up some cash

well yes it could possibly be a scam, just know who you are trading with. but for the most part everyone has good intentions. say like, Juicy D Links. You would never want to do a trade with a guy like that. :winkwink:

I have looked into this as why I purchased www.mrteller.com Put the biggest problem is the freaking fraud. I only do transfers to ppl who can be trusted. I've lost several hundreds of dollars for ppl paying me via paypal and then doing a chargeback several months later.

Or an escrow service. It doesn't have to be automated. I'll trade with anyone at any amount for 10% if they send me the cash first. Can the payments be reversed once I have the funds?

I think typical transfers usually carry about a 10% trade, thats what I've done with people in the past. Covers a couple percent to pay for the transaction and the rest is a small profit for effort/convenience. Only trade with people you trust or people that you can hold accountable and it works out pretty good.

Exactly why I avoid it like the plague unless I know them .Epass may be a pain but it takes maybe a couple scanned forms of ID and 10 minutes of your time.

Can they charge it back even if they send it from available funds rather than by using a credit card to fund the account? Why not do what WesternUnion.com does and force them to send documentation, photo-IDs, verify bank accounts, etc before they an do trades. If they are in a hurry and you don't know them they can suck your dick. You make the rules.

Most everyone wants instant transfers via only paypal or epassporte. You can actually do chargebacks with both paypal or epassporte.

That certainly puts a kink in the plan!

Thanks Gene and Jimmy. I'll try to stop by more often. Who has time for all of these boards?
