I don't think the point of "To Catch a Predator" is as much to "catch" predators as it is to cause positive social change and do justice.

Airing it on TV has a multiplier effect. Airing it on TV sends a powerful message. It is a popular show.

Still, some predatory sickos will continue to seek out kids. That will happen regardless. That's why the cops are there to haul 'em in.

they'll never run out of guys who would fuck willing 13 year olds. in my opinion they'd be better off getting some of the real scum out there who prey on the unwilling, but they are much harder to catch i guess.

There was an episode of the show recently where they actually had a guy show up that had showed up before. He actually told them that he thought it might be them again, but that he couldn't stop himself. There is little or no deterrent that will stop the type of people that do these types of crimes. The fear of getting caught or in trouble is far outweighed by the desire to do the crime
