Tour Experts In this thread please
When you do trailers on your tours should you have the movie player popup kinda like link to a .wmv file
or Send them to a page that has the trailer embedded Any input appreciated |
the new tours I am creating right now take the user to a movie page with a flash video embedded in it

Having a look at the tours of some big sponsors, embedded on a page seems to be the way to go. It makes the tour look bigger, less static and gives you some extra space for preview pics, join button, etc.

well, afaik I was the first to include "embedded in page" movie trailers, and so far none of my clients got back to "trailer popping" (so to call it) so IMHO the answer is embedded in its own window, with more marketing claims and such.
Of course, I've seen some people doing that after me (not that I consider myself so brilliant, I'm not the new AlienQ :winkwink: ) but each and everyone of them makes the same mistakes: a) they don't include a "join" link or b) the join link goes to another page (or the same pop-up window) instead of the parent window. Just avoid that and you'll be fine. :thumbsup (dear fellow designers, that's a free tip :winkwink: ) |
damn see some great tips and tricks appreciate it guys

RE:embedded in page
I'm not sure who was the first to do it, but I can tell you ARS brought the idea to us YEARS ago when we did a bunch of tours for them. In my experience I prefer to use the video pop up page as another sales item. We've done everything from making really nice sales graphics on the page, to actually putting a mini join form on the page(This has worked out VERY WELL). The join form on the page requires some special programming but is worth it. I have a lot of other worthwhile ideas and tips I could help you with -- but this is wharge for consulting;-) |
how bout flash ones like youtube? i donno, could be kinda cool and easy one click

lets hear some more input

I've had good luck selling sites that embed the video into a page and it also allows you more space to have join links etc like others have said.
