Registering a business in the US
 

Can anybody register a business in the US? I live in Canada, but want a legit US business, US address, tax ID, the whole shebang.

Can I do this, or do I need to have someone physically in the US?

What about registering on some island? Does anybody have any experiance with this?

My reasons are due to the horrible tax laws here. I have to add 7% to all items sold, but can't pass this on to US customers. Prices me right out.

of course u can.... tho if material is bought outside US, gst does not apply..

also if u incorporate in Canada.... Americans do not need to give u their tax numbers..... whether they report the income is up to them.... could be an advantage:winkwink:

Lookin at your situation I would say definitely don't register in America then. It wouldn't benefit anyone. Offshore should be good for you. You can do it for under $1000. Run a google search and start reading.

Actually, the exact emaple is that I am going to signup for OpenSRS, and sell domain names. done to death I know, but whatever.

OpenSRS is Canadian. I am Canadian. they state in thier T&C's that they would charge me 7% GST on all purchases. I'd have to pass that on in the cost to the user. I'd rather skirt the whole GST thing, and appear American, or offshore.

It's a big world out there. Can anyone suggest obscure little island nations that would be happy to let me incorporate there?

if you do not have experience with Off shore acounts , etc . I strongly advise DO NOT go offshore. Even going to a lawyer or what ever to get advise is not going to guarantee safe funds somewhere on an Island . You need to know the RIGHT people and know what the fuck you are doing. Reading your post , I got the feeling you don't have experience in banking off shore.

I suggest you set up in Nevada . So what , get hit with the 16% tax or what ever it is but you know your cash will always be there. I know the thought of setting up off-shore and paying 2% tax or no tax is very entertaining but my father is a stock promoter and has told me MANY, MANY horror stories of people that lost millions in the islands . One day its there and the next day GONE!

Being Canadian, you can set up in Nevada NP and it's nice to know your cash is there and life is easier when you can sleep at night. Trust me.
