I want one of these RED fuckers, NOW!
http://red.com/photo-tour.htm
Only $17,500. A fuckin bargain. Yep $17,500 and a real snip at that price. They haven't even launched it yet and have 1500 depposits of $1000. Sony and Panasonic must be sweating blood when this comes out in a few months. Their whole pro camaras are gonna die.(OK an exageration but they will suffer and have to adapt) Why buy an inferior Sony Cinealta costing $150,000 or a Panasonic for a similar price, when you can get the Red camera, much higher specced, for afraction. I bet Sony and Panny are praying the Red doesn't live up to the hype. I am number 766 in the list. It will make Hi Def look like 8mm. Bring it on baby! The quality is pretty much unmatched. Been watching this for awhile now.

the sony he used goes for 95k in these days |
The Sony Speilberg and Lucas use can only shoot up to 1080. The Red shoots 2K, and 4K!!!!!!!!! If you have a 30 apple monitor, it ain't big enough by a long way. And the Red can shoot up to 60 frames a second at that resolution!!!!!!! That is just fucking amazing. And 120 frames a second at 2K!! Super slow mo at twice the screen size of HD.
When the Red was launch no body belived it and thought it a hoax, b then Jim Jannard was announced as the guy behind it (Billioinair Oakley owner) and he hired some top guys. This has already sent shock waves through the whole industry. Cameras costing upwards of $500,000 don't get close to the specs of the $17,500 Red. Of course there's lenses, add-ons, capture devices etc to add to the price, but its still the bargain of the century. |

Maybe you need a few exlamation marks to get your point across loco12, and FYI the physical size of the monitor has jack shit to do with resolution.
|
OK overexcited I know, but it is pretty amazing. The downloaded footage from Red just fits on my 30 inch Apple monitor. Shoot at 4K and it will be too big at 100%. Of course you could display it at 50% but thats not the best thing to do.

the sony cams cost about 1500 bucks a day to rent guys who rent em in cali are booked out
def a good biz even if this is just 20k u can still get 1k easy for daily rental |
Man that is one hell of a car.
:) Just kidding. |
I'll take two! Who's buying??
Seriously tho.. If it lives up to all it says it is then that is one HELL of a camera and at a decent price... |

Yeah, I have one ordered but the challenge is trying to find a client who is not so cheap that they can't pay $50 more for quality content. 99% of program owners would rather hire a someone who churns out lame content for the cheapest price. This is changing recently but the budgets are still pathetic. I have a few meetings with some of the bigger DVD companies this month. Hopefully they will order some movies from me so I can justify the cost of buying the camera, viewfinder, lenses, storage, etc. Most likely I will end up forking over $30k + to get set up with this camera. NO way will I be busting out $2k scenes when using $50K in photo/video equipment. |
Thing is, at the moment you can't now get on the list to buy one. They stopped taking new orders a while back, though opened it for three days recently. In those three days they took a further 400 orders.
Also, if a guy has chucked down a $1000 deposit, it's fully refundable, but NOT transferable. Which is good and bad at the same time. People high up the list could auction off their position on Google for a healthy profit. I am sure once the camer hiits the streets there will be a few appearing on Ebay, and hgely inflated prices. And there will be people willing to pay over the odds for it if it lives up to the hype surrounding it. Personally I won't be spending very much on those extras. The cradle can wait. So can the lens. I will use what I already have until I can fund it through using the camera to pay for it. Rental wise, its should do very well. |
the site looks like a fake site
