For those that know the Playstations.

Ok a few newb questions.

Can the PS2 play PS1 games? Can the same be said of the PS3?

I am primarly interested it two maybe three games.
Twisted Metal 1 and 2. Then maybe the one they made for the PSP handheld where they brought back the engine and people that made Twisted Metal 2 what it was. I could give a rats ass about Twisted metal 3, the mini version ect.

Basically what system can I play those three on besides the PS1.

i know ps2 can play all ps1 games and the ps3 can play most ps1 games. I assume theres a list online telling you which ones.

ps2 will play ps1 games. I also have a ps3 and I'm told it plays ps2 games. I haven't tried it yet.

for sure the ps2 plays ps1 games

The PS2 plays both PS2 and PS1 Games

The PS3 plays PS3/PS2/PS1 Games

The PSP has an emulator that can play some PS1 games, which you have to download through the PS3.

In other words, get a PS3 and PSP and you'll be ok.

Because I do not care about the PS3/Wii/Xbox360 games until they release a new twisted metal that uses the same game engine as twisted metal 1 and 2 with the same people behind it. Which playstation did get most of them back after they left their other company.

Reason being, I like twisted metal and really like twisted metal 2. I hate twisted metal 3 and the other ones done by others with a different game engine.

I do not give a rats ass about to many other games. I really like just a few games. Graphics and such mean next to nothing for me.

If you have a ps2 or ps3 do they work on it?

I really want to know before I buy something I really do not need.

Well, if graphics are no concern to you, and you like to play Twisted Metal 2, then I would have to go out on a limb and say you really don't need a PS3.

Well my ps1 is going on the fritz, damn thing is so damn old it is not funny.

I also know the first two in the series were developed by singletrac, 3 and 4 were done by 989 studios (crappy). I also know in 2001 a large number of former singletrac employees left and formed Incognito Entertainment which signed with Sony. They went on to release twisted metal black for the PS2, which was not really a sequel. Then that same year the released twisted metal small brawl, which really is like using toy cars. Then in 2005 they released twisted metal head on which is in reality the first sequal to twisted metal 2. Though it was released for the playstation portable. Now knowing that twisted metal is Sony's longest running exclusive franchise. So I would reason they would be making one for the PS3.

So knowing that and the probility of a proper version for the PS3, I would rather be prepped ahead than just buy a replacement PS1 or PS2.
