Need a Square Thumbnail Web Drag script

Hey! Right now we make all of our sample thumbnails by hand, so that they actually look good. It's only a few photos per site, so it's not that bad, however, I can't trust other people to do them for me!!

What I want is a script that lets you load the full size image in a browser, drag a square box around the part of the image you want to use as a thumb, set a standard size, and voila, it will create the thumb. Anyone?

Best one I found so far is

http://www.nextri.com/cropper/index.php

But it seems to only work from their website.. I need something that I can install in my admin area on my own server.

*fingers crossed*

Really need some help here, where's all the TGP folks?

We can do this all day ;)

I don't know of a stand alone that is server based, but TGP Cropper will run on any Windows desktop w/ the .NET 1.1 framework installed. It is now freeware too.

Thanks! I checked that one out, but we're trying to get away from Windows, there are lots of windows tools that do thumbnails, but we're trying to get this all web-based to make it easy

I integrated this into my software. It's a javascript front-end that you can use to send coordinates to your software to do your cropping (using Image Magick, for example). It won't do anything on it's own though.

Very interesting! We're wondering something though... with this tool, if your fullsize image is something like 3000x2000 very large res, and you want a 150x150 box or whatever, will it just take a 150x150 punchout of the whole image (part of a boob) or can you drag the box to how you wish and then force that to a size?

The nextri one does this well, no matter how big the image source is, you can drag a suitable box to get the girl centered and framed right for a proper thumb..

Thanks!!!

Ahhhh I guess with the coordinates it doesn't matter what size of box you draw, as the long as the proportions are good, can force size with ImageMagick I guess huh..

Thanks! If anyone else has any easy web tools with a script to do this kinda thing plz let me know

I did a small script using the UI someone posted below that crops the thumbnail. I could probably sell it for the right price.

Here's one that a couple of TGP scripts use: http://labs.silverorange.com/archive...e/mayitakeyour

For manual cropping, I select the area I want visible regardless of the size, and then use image magick to turn that into a thumb. For auto cropping, it gets the biggest possible section of the picture with the proper ratio, centers it horizontally and vertically, and then thumbs that to the selected size. You can use any size image and just use imagemagick to manipulate it how you please.

It's really pretty slick. I've messed with most of the available interfaces for this, and found this to be the best, and the easiest. If you still want to check out more options, along with the silverorange link that was posted, here are a couple more to check out...
