checking outstanding arrest warrant?

is it possible to call the police and find out if there's an arrest warrant against u?

i got a lawyer for a traffic ticket but i think he fuckin 4got to change the date so now i missed court date...

it still rests on you unfortunately even though the lawyer forgot. you can call the county sheriffs desk for your state and ask them what the status is. you can also call the court and find out. they aren't gonna come get you, its not something serious like a murder where they are gonna try to be like t.v. and trace your call. tens of thousands of people have warrants for traffic cites.

depending on how serious it is, even the warrant may be catch and release.

depends on the county and the back log they dont give info over phone they make you come down and that means if it is true you get cuffed on the spot

you now have a bench warrant, which means they just want you to pay

go down to the courthouse and tell them you want to clear everything up, they are usually pretty cool when you are honest and show up in person

i just cleared up a traffic matter that was 8 months old cuz i didn't have time to drive 300miles north to take care of it... it was one of those stupid courts that doesn't give you the fine, they want you to appear. I pretty much said fuck it till bout a month ago they decided to suspend the license. Got my lawyer on it, was cleared up in 2 days - warrant all gone, and all my shit reinstated. Granted the fee was like 650$ ish (102 in 65 + late fees). Bottom line - if you miss it, you def got a warrant out.

good advicing.

But if you cant afford a lawyer, the best way to find out if you have a warrant is doing donuts in front of your local police station. Someone from inside will attend to you shortly and will inform you if you have any warrants or not. No need to thank me. Good luck.

lol, that's the dave guru logic i miss! :1orglaugh

yea, the lawyer was cheap, only bout 400$ ish for 2 hours. They can usually handle the matter over the phone w/ the judge personally. If they had to drive up there, obviously would have been much much more ;-)

Splum 02-16-2007 05:25 PM

Haha you are fucked dude, dont drive anywhere, dont drink, dont smoke dont do shit but turn yourself in.

Jace 02-16-2007 05:28 PM

just to let you know, what I wrote above was from experience

I have dodged 3 tickets in my life

1st one got a bench warrant and went as long as I could with a suspended license before they arrested me and I spent 4 days in jail for everything

2nd time I just dodged the ticket then hired a lawyer and he took care of it, that cost way too much

3rd time they did the bench warrant again and I went down there in person and said "what can I do?", they had me "arrested" for like 2 hours, i paid the fine and went on my way...it cost me way more though

Jace 02-16-2007 05:29 PM

oh yeah, that first time when I got pulled over with the suspended license I was snorting a line of blow on a cd case while driving when they police lights turned on to pull me over...haha...i was high as a kite when they took me in, all coked up

that was when I was 23

Brilliant.

Yeah call the County Court Clerk...lol they will get it all done for you over the phone...with that or take Dave Guru's advice. I am still chuckling over that one!

jace, ditto - 2nd time for me - the lawyer route was far less painful. Only trip I had to make was to dmv to reinstate license for 55$ which took all of 10 mins. Cost more yes, but handled with less personal time... time = money. so that was the best route for me.

yeah, now I would do the same, but back then I was just pure trouble...LOL...i didn't care, i would much rather spend a night in jail then have to pay for the lawyer and all that shit

now is a different story, plus I love being home and cozy, so jail is 100% out of the question these days...haha
