Zango in Revenue Mag - DirectRevenue advertisers get fined

Out of Commission The coding meant to protect affiliates is being cracked and costing them commissions.

Another story in the "Affiliates Corner" -- In order to stop commission stealers, ethical affiliates must close Zango accounts.

On another note-

DirectRevenue gets hit with FTC fine and advertisers also get fined
Quote:

New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo sued Direct Revenue in April for installing its adware on millions of computers. Cuomo also reached settlements last month with several companies that advertised through Direct Revenue's pop-ups, the first time advertisers have been held liable for ads displayed through adware.

Priceline.com Inc., based in Norwalk, Conn. and Cingular, a unit of AT&T Inc., paid fines of $35,000 each, while Travelocity, a unit of Sabre Holdings Corp., paid $30,000.

Don't you even try to change attitude, asshole. You have been supporting Zango users all the time!

Cold feets?

Off_Shore switching a sponsor wich have been your main source of revenue for a decade is a lot harder then choosing not to use it.

Stop defending the AFF:s use of Zango ,( "I don't care as long I make money with them" ) as in SleazyDreams case, can't be that hard? And jumping on will76? No need for that.

Quickdraw 02-24-2007 10:40 AM

Yeah, the fines are a bit light, but it appears to be a start. At least it is becoming more well known just how scummy they, and the people that promote or use them, are.

The first article also proves that anyone that uses Zango, is simply their bitch.
Zango's Director of Public Relations, Steve Stratz, says if companies want to protect their sites, urls, or trademarks, they can simply just outbid their competitors. Then went on to say, "We don't apologize for the aggressive nature of our ad network".

RawAlex 02-24-2007 10:43 AM

Hopefully Mr Stratz won't expect anyone to apologize when he drops the soap either.

nice to see advertisers being fined too. Companies like AFF admitt there is a "problem" but they do it anyway. Cant use the " we didn't know " defense now.

Fines need to go up a lot more though. but at least it is a start.

Very glad to hear they fine everyone involved in this. I think zango officers should face criminal charges for computer hacking as this is pretty much what they do.
