Epassporte Hacked - Money Stolen Internally
Hi all, just checking in to see if anyone else with an epassporte account has had their account hacked and money stolen? I lost $500US to a fraudulent internal transfer last week to a user called "tHobman_j". It pissed me off cause I thought Epassporte was one of the more secure and reliable processing options.
The most dissappointing thing however is that even though I noticed the transfer within a couple of hours of it happening, Epassporte were extremely slow in reacting to my enquiries and phone calls and even slower in reacting to the issue. Consequently, it appears the thief has got away with the cash as stated below!! "As previously stated, no funds are available for any recovery. ePassporte can not held liable for any p2p transaction losses that are comparable to cash transactions. This is manifested in our Terms & Conditions. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions. Sincerely," I have asked to be notified of the results of their investigation but my enquires have been unanswered for the last 4 days. I kind of expected a little more from them.... deve88 |

I don't know about your accusation of it being an inside job, but it is beginning to appear that they do have some security issues. That is why I keep my balance very low. I hate when I do deals that require I hold large sums of epass money for a while. |
That really sucks
sorry to hear that
It's beyond me why they haven't introduced another layer of security to their system.
This is happening a lot lately, time to move away some funds :)
Sorry, didnt mean it to appear that it was an "inside job". It was an internal transfer between accounts. An Epassporte account holder who got into my account and stole the money...
I expected a little more means that I though there security would have been better and their reaction quicker and more effective. |
this really sucks!
thats bad :(
their slogaw is "the safest way to pay online". goodthingthey still have keyser! |
i hope you recover your funds
they could easily add the e-gold browser security type
and 90% of this problems would be solved. Seems a 5 liner piece of code its too much trouble for them. |

Epassporte fucking sucks. Never had any of these issues with paypal or netspend accounts.
all the best man.
Always sucks for this to happen, but there isn't a more reliable or widely used option for online payments than Epassporte (for adult). But with all financial things, once something goes wrong it is probably the worst thing that can happen, especially with no recourse. It does sound wise to keep as low a balance as you can inside.
And anyone using paypal for adult has no excuse to complain when their account is frozen for 6 months for just the hint of dealing in adult. |
this is happened for some time with the p2p fraud, they should work on the site security i think
like really regardless of adult or not, its a service, money has been stolen, they should be reacting, investigating and working this shit out. it's their biz to secure money and transactions, they should be getting their fucking act together before they loose all their clients.
damn sorry to hear that
Is this really an epassporte issue? Or someone sniffed your connexion or something and got your password?
I'm really surprised Epassporte would not at least open an investigation for this... and give you quick answers. That's pretty scary. All the credit card entities do chargebacks in those cases and have insurances. Even Paypal can cancel some transfers. |
sorry to hear bro
so big drama for 5posts member. and many about clients side epass security was told before, search and think if you do the best for your security
Thanks for the heads up. Why not use e-gold?
can he/she cash in 5k from atm?
damn, seen so many similar threads, not cool
:disgust |
Seems like we have one of these pop-up daily. The lesson is that you leave funds in your account at your own risk.
All ePass has to do is limit admin access by IP and/or send email confirmation links of any transfers. Why they haven't implemented any simple measures like this is beyond me, and shows a complete lack of concern.
Scary shit...
At this point, you can assume that keyloggers and whatnot are specifically targeting Epass and paypal. Work double hard to keep your PC clean.

And the moral of the story is, use the ATM and don't leave large amounts in your account. :thumbsup
That realy suck......:(
How can they say they are not responsable if you didn't get the money.
You are the one that may transfer and nobody else, if they do so, they are wrong not you. Go to court! |

I said this before... but this whole shit is starting to sound like a conspiracy. Who is epass's biggest competition? I think they're sending agents...

Someone hacked my account and stole $5,000 about a year ago. They send it via some account gift bullshit and epass said they can't do anything.. It was sent to another epass account so they surely could. Pretty fucked up.. They had my fax in some paper and they kept saying "we didn't get it" when I faxed it over and over. I send faxes all day long so I know they are BS'ing. FUCK YOU EPASS |

It's like ENRON having a TOS that said that it was ok for them to steal millions of dollars from little old ladies. |
Has anyone ever taken ePassporte to court over their lack of responsibility for securing funds? Maybe that's what will need to happen before they get their shit together. ePassporte is quickly running their name and their reputation into the ground with their approach to customer service and security.
remember their slogan please :(

epass took day to respond and when they did he got the same canned reply that you got. These thefts are either an inside job or they have a serious security leak. Either way epass should shoulder their share of the responsibility. I will not do business with epass for this very reason. It is the same reason that I do not promote AFF. I don't condone theft and I do not support those that facilitate theft. |
Sorry to hear that happened. But that is one more reason what I dont leave much in there, and what I am pulling the rest today. I also do the same with paypal. they can not be trusted either.
If you guys don't like epass, I have a simple solution:
STOP USING THEM. Either quit using them or quit whining. This shit is getting very old fast. |
Quote:
1) They must be sued to Curacao's court. Anybody from Curacao here? I don't think so. 2) Who will be sued then? 'epassporte.com domain'? fax or toll-free line number in US? some company in Curacao? I bet you don't know much about that offshore islands but in some tax heavens like Curacao you can register ANY company on ANY provided details (i.e. you can register company called "paypal" belongs to "Bill Gates") and nobody would check if your name or address are correct. Its only case of proper amount of money invested and paid as a "tax". 3) I can't see any address on epassporte site. They don't provide any real address. Did you noticed that? Even if you go to Curacao and sue them in local court it all may turn out in bullshit, they can say you're not Curacao citizen or ANYTHING. This is offshore island and tax heaven activity brings them majority of their national income (and tourists of course). So its logical for me that they'll secure 'their' companies as much as they can... 4) I think we all know that the owner of epassporte is the same guy who owns paycom/epoch but nobody knows who is formally set as owner of epassporte company in Curacao. Maybe Mallick, maybe paycom, maybe John Smiths. You can sue them but who said you can receive your money back? And from who then? |
I forgot to add. The one and only address they give us is this in whois of their domain. Who knows if its real? And what if its not?
I never leave anything above $100 in there for security reasons myself.
