Page rank question

Ok I am confused.

How is it that wordpress has a page rank of 9 and google itself only has a page rank of 4?

google has PR 9 or 10.... but it will depend on the google domain where you are at....

i doubt google has a pr4, they own the pr system

obviously they give themselves a 10/10 ;)

it all depends where your server resides - if it's in the uk, it will do pr lookups on google's uk servers. Not all domains have the same pagerank around the world

and there can be a HUGE difference between domain.com and www.domain.com

google has a pagerank of 9 when I check it

Ahhh that must be it then. Because I have my google home page pop up and not the direct www.google.com

Though that's strange - pr lookup on ever google DC, shows a PR of 10:

everyone shouldput a link on their website with <a href="http://search.yahoo.com">GOOGLE</a> on it and see what happens

Oh Come on, they are not fuck heads. Its all about backlinks and they have that number of backlinks which is required to make it PR10.

Friend, Google have PR10 -- Its not because they own the PR algorithm. Its because they have enough number of backlinks.

Don't you think that Yahoo.com have PR9 and one deep internal page on adobe has PR10?

Its not about how popular a site is, how good a site is, its all about backlinks.

Its as simple.

Google do like PR10, but they don't use it everywhere - as bawdy says there's a lot of regional variation in the search engine and things like Blogger are only PR9.
