Certain batteries wont work in digital cameras???

I bought a big pack of panasonic heavy duty aa's and when i put them in the camera it flashes red and wont work. I put 2 aa duracels in and no problem it works. Is that strange or what?

I would make sure you had them in correctly

Hate to break it to you, but even master electricians fuck up sometimes. I would venture to say that you got some dead batteries.

I was going to ask if they were rechargeables and needed charged, or maybe if your owners manual talks about a certain mA that the camera needs to operate, or that possible the new batteries could be dead, and to check them on a multi meter, but since your a master electrician, I'm sure you thought of all of those things already...

Sorry to tell you, but some simply don't have the power capacity to power a digital camera.
It's really stupid, but I've had several batteries that just can't do it.

Stick to the brand named NiMH batteries that are specifically intended for digital cameras, and avoid the bulk deals just to save some cash.

Not all batteries are the same.

Bought a 9 volt Duracell alkaline last week that was totally dead. Had an expiriation date in 2009

You may have dead batteries. You may also have batteries that are slightly under voltage. Check carefully, the camera may require alkaline batteries, and the "heavy duty" ones may not be. There isn't enough amperage in lower end batteries to make the camera run.

Panasonic heavy duty batteries are crap... they don't have the power to run digital camera's. 8 packs of panasonic heavy duty batteries go for $1 at the dollar store here, they work in channel changers and electronics that don't require as much power.

I had the same problem...

Yea I know some Canon if not all of them won't work unless they are alkaline batteries.

Common sense would tell someone to make sure they are installed properly and to also try the new batteries in a different device to make sure they work. Thanks for the common sense tips again. If you know a master electrician that can't put a battery in a camera you better get extra home insurance:1orglaugh
