well i heard they tried to cut a deal so viacom stuff could be on youtube... i guess after talks fell through and youtube didnt remove all the videos.. they sued... its the american way...

That's fucking awesome. I hope viacom wins. Then that ruling can be used against rapidshare etc.. doesn't seem to matter WHO uploads the shit, the operator is STILL responsible.

Thats exactly what I was thinking.
Although rapid share and others do take down links if you ask them too.

Would be good against all the content sharing forums aswell.

The fact is that Viacom has a legitimate beef, and if YouTube isn't proactive in stopping the distribution of copyrighted content, then they are at fault.
