is namecheap OK?

I have used directnic for years recently someone recomended I try namecheap I have transfered 10 domains and bought 10 more new ones. Now I have done it I am getting a little worried. I save about $5.50 a domain which over the year will be a fair bit extra of working money but as I have been with Directnic for years without a problem a new registar is a little worrying I have had some good feedback from other webmasters but I would love more.

If you have been with namecheap for a while please let me know your experience good/bad

Thanks

Klen 03-14-2007 08:25 AM

martinsc 03-14-2007 08:25 AM

i use namecheap for every domain i buy....
i love them :thumbsup

darksoul 03-14-2007 08:34 AM

got over 100 domains with them, not one problem in 2y+

JasonB 03-14-2007 08:35 AM

definitely better than directnic ...although, i like enom.com even better

Juilan 03-14-2007 08:47 AM

Pros: cheap, fast, great user interface.
Cons: No telephone support ever. Transfers from Enom to Namecheap Don't work surprisingly.
I have about 70 domains there.

Radiate 03-14-2007 09:50 AM

namecheap has a great service, no problems

fris 03-14-2007 09:52 AM

never had a problem with them, godaddy on the other hand, shitty

NinjaSteve 03-14-2007 09:54 AM

I think Moniker is best.

rick-e 03-14-2007 09:54 AM

so far no problems with namecheap

pornguy 03-14-2007 09:59 AM

We have been using them for some time. They are as stable as the next. Anything can happen

maddox 03-14-2007 10:04 AM

don't use them, they closed my account without reason and I was not able to contact them for like 2 months, I lost many valuable names together with that account

on the other hand I use directnic since like 1998 and I never had problems with them.

smutx 03-14-2007 11:17 AM

yeah namecheap is good .. and godaddy and registerfly are total crap...

candyflip 03-14-2007 11:30 AM

I have almost all of my domains with Namecheap. Never had an issue. I LOVE their interface.

madawgz 03-14-2007 11:31 AM

NGU 03-14-2007 11:39 AM

Thanks everyone for the feedback

Once again thanks for the input

I saw other drama stories about them, as well as drama stories about godaddy and other but I havent seen any drama about directnic or moniker

so better stay with the respected ones

btw. the interface of name cheap is quite good, thats true

maddox I have been searching around and I have so far only found good reports on namecheap if you have any urls to saying otherwise I would love to read them. I intend on leaving my top domains with directnic, for now, but so far moving a large amount of my domains to namecheap, looks like a good move.

Tempest 03-14-2007 07:06 PM

I've only been using them for about a year but so far everything is fine, and yes, their interface is fantastic.

King of Queens 03-14-2007 07:27 PM

I have most of my domain names with
namecheap.

A few that arent with them are with
godaddy & these are some sites i
bought that were already there.

These were bought for additional
backlink purposes only.

I have 1 other domain name at some
other register that was bought through
here.

When the 60 day period is up it will be
transfered to my namecheap account.

Namecheap is my main register & i've
been with for almost a year & a 1/2
now with no issues what so ever.

Any new domain names i buy from a
register they are bought at namecheap. :thumbsup

Hey jrzeygirl just a tip... if the topic is about a specific domain seller, don't spam it because it makes you look bad, no matter how good your service is.

Matt 26z 03-15-2007 07:36 AM

Namecheap is a reseller and not ICANN accredited. I personally wouldn't deal with such places.

i'll second this.

The difference between moniker and namecheap so far is that namecheap has grown through positive referrals and word of mouth. Moniker has grown through heavy marketing and (some) spamming.

woj 03-15-2007 08:22 AM

I've used them for a while, no problems at all...

TGPTeam 03-15-2007 09:24 AM

use and love them, easy interface and great price

This is not the first time nor the last that they lower themselves to this sort of behavior. We have had to deal with their lowly practices in other threads as well.

They seem to have a good enough reputation and yet they still resort to these classless practices.
