The hospital just called and they regret to inform you that they accidently put you into the microwave instead of the MRI. The good news is that you are only half-baked...

So what were the results?

I have the films , gotta pick up the report tomorrow then go to the doc next week...

I had one about 3 months ago to see if I had any kidney or gall stones and I felt exactly the same thing. When i cam out I said to the guy...'This is just like being buried alive'. It was dark and loud and very very enclosed. Took about 50 minutes and that was just about long enough.
The did give me an alarm button to hold so I suppose some people really reak out from the claustrophobic atmosphere.

Going for yet ANOTHER one for my hip tomorrow. 3rd one in 2 months, maybe this time they'll get it right. They're supposed to inject me with something this time, not really looking forward to it. They take forever ... just when you think it's done, there comes another BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

mikesouth 03-15-2007 09:00 PM

an MRI is a fucking cakewalk....the real bitch is what happens when they find a nerve sheath tumor growing through your backbone between the T12 and L1 Vertabrae and its compressing your spinal cord against your backbone.

so stop being fucking pussies...

The machine is loud. They gave me headphones to listen to music. I could not hear the music since that damn machine makes so much noise. Plus it is a small space they stick you in for a half an hour. Did they try and put the dye in you?

Hi Mike. What is a nerve sheath tumor? I heard that you were ill. Are things going better?

mikesouth 03-15-2007 09:33 PM

Its a tumor that in my case was growing from the nerve lining on my spinal cord...they call them schwannomas or something like that...trust me ya dont want one...its rare that they grow from the spinal cord and it makes removel pretty fucking serious....but whatcha gonna do? It was mine...I owned it...Im still recovering...doing better by the day. the surgery was 2/21 2 weeks ago I was on 2 5mg oxycodone every 3 hrs...down to one a day now. Im on a heavy dose of neurontin till the nerve damage heals but that is non addictive.

I have about an 8-10 scar down the center of my back to show for it ;)

I expect full recovery by end of may

ask your doc for a copy of the cd...

(your doc gets a cd with the results from the mri techs )

Its a series of various movie clips of the mri

Hi Mike. Thanks for explaining it. Believe me, I know I don't want one. I had a cancerous mass removed in 2005, and that was enough for me. I am glad to hear that you are going to recovery fully. That is great. :)

D 03-15-2007 11:58 PM

I've gotten a couple of MRI's in the last 5 years.

Both times I've gone to this place that has one of the newer machines... it's on Riverside in Burbank.

Essentially, the part you enter on the machine is two panels... one on top, one on bottom... both arched a bit outwards (top part's kinda u'ed, bottom parts kinda 'mounded') with minimal support structures spidered on the sides..

gives it all a very 'open' feeling.

I'm not claustrophobic, but I can see where someone who doesn't like small spaces might dig on geting their imaging done on that model.

Supposed to go get one, but keep puttin it off. Gotta get my spine checked too. They think theres a vertabrae pinhing a nerve or something.. makes my hand & leg go numb sometimes... not a fan of doctors tho lol

Ya... you should get that shit checked. Sounds like it could be an injury similar to what I have. If it goes too long before it's addressed properly it can cause some permanant nerve damage among other discomforts.

Thanksfully mine was on-the-job, so it's all paid for... but I find myself in physical therapy and pain management drugs until the point in time where I decide I've had enough and opt for surgery...

Figure that day'll come when they're growing spines in vats overnight.

if you happen to be in L.A., I know a great doc you can go to... smart as hell, and makes it all very painless... hit me up.

Thanks...It's just of those things the way I see it...we all got shit we have to deal with in life, this was one of mine. These pussies should pray to whatever God they believe in that an MRI is worst thing they have to deal with. ;)

He is right...if you dont get that shit fixed you could find that one morning those hands and arms are paralyzed. In my case it wasnt if, it was when...I got lucky....I'd have been like Larry Flynt with six months.

DaddyHalbucks 03-16-2007 08:09 AM

Hope you are OK, Juiceman.

Zayne E. 03-16-2007 08:24 AM

I had an MRI in late January...was a piece of cake. They have something down here called "open MRI" -- wasn't loud...wasn't claustrophobic.

i wonder if it's as loud under the ground as it is inside an MRI machine. :upsidedow

I went to my last one stoned and didn't find it at all uncomfortable
I actually fell asleep, the noise didn't bother me
