Foreign languages - its amazing how fast you forget them
German - ive been living in Germany for 1 year when i was a kid and my mother has been a German teacher so I've been speaking German almost as good as a native speaker
now I havent used it for a few years and I'd have huge problems to write a complete sentence in German without making any errors and without having problems to find the correct words - I simply forgot everything... But at least I admit that if someone showed me a German movie now, I'd understand 99% of it. then I learned Italian for 4 years, I was also pretty good at it but after not using it for almost 8 years if i had to go to Italy today I would ask them "what time is it" instead of saying the same in Italian. If someone showed me a movie in Italian, I'd probably undertand not more than 15% of it... anyone else noticed how fast you forget foreign languages :disgust or perhaps some of you don't have this problem? :) |
I havent forgotten the 3 languages i had to learn where i lived, i stayed in those places for 4 years each, they havent gone out of my head since then
