Does Vista support Quicktime?
IVe gotten a couple of e mails this week from members saying that when they upgraded to Vista....Quicktime no longer works?...Can anyone give me any advice?...We are Mac people
|
Like other Apple created software, they used rather abusive ways to make things work under XP. The problem is that those same methods are no longer available in Vista.
You can check apple's website, there may be an upgrade or patch, but I think at this point it is still an unresolved issue - and an issue entirely of Apple's making this time around. Some blogs and other rumor bases are suggesting that Apple is dragging their feet on making things like itunes and quicktime compatible with Vista to slow down sales of the operating system. |
Don't you mean does Quicktime support Vista?:winkwink:

Vista isn't anything special, actually it's shit...

The official answer is, at this time, iTunes, QuickTime, Software Update and the iPod shuffle reset utility are all unsupported under Vista.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304854 Reason: In its effort to monopolize the PC market Microsoft recently changed the name of an obscure, proprietary image file type, Windows Media Photo, to Microsoft HD Photo. In the movie brbrach they try to still force WMV on people, even though it's shit. His was mainly done to kill mov because WMV sucks as far as quality is concerned and most pros stuck to mov. http://blogs.msdn.com/billcrow/archi...-hd-photo.aspx It's basically nothing but the like the long-forgotten JPEG 2000 format. Worse, JPEG 2000 was a standardized format contained within Photoshop, while Microsoft HD photo is not a standard: it's a proprietary proposal which requires you to enter into legal agreements with Microsoft . Some folks appear to have made it work but don't ask me how. It's a shame, someone should shove a big pineapple up Bill Gate's ass. |
Update just for the record. Obviously it wasn't done intentionally by MS. Here's what a member who works for a questionable computer company mailed me.
It is a Microsoft issue, but there is a patch available for a specific problem. The next Vista service pack should eliminate the problem. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932094 |
I have Vista, which I think is kick ass :)
Quicktime works perfectly fine here. |

Sounds like an Apple fanboy. Jobs had his chance 20 years ago to monopolize the computer industry and blew it. he chose to make his OS proprietary instead of licensing out to other computer companies because he thought he'd sell more Macs. His stupidity, his loss. Seeing how his Ipod uses the same proprietary crap Jobs hasn't learn shit in 25 years. Quote:
And you talk about MS being all proprietory, WTF is Ipod? Can I download a song from Itunes straight to a NON-Ipod music player? Quote:

Use quicktime alternative
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm It'll play all quicktime files with media player classic. Works fine for me on Vista x64 |
never understood why some paysites have their videos in quicktime format... in the history of my pc use i always had to download various shit to make it work... quicktime sucks. Thats the problem with apple, they dont really bother to make their shit compatible with normal, used by the majority of the world, PC's.
