COFFEE DRINKERS: Dunkin' Donuts or Starbucks?

Or maybe it's 7-11 or McDonald's for some of you guys. They don't even have 7-11's here in Atlanta any more:Oh crap

My first year in the business I hit Dunkin' Donuts at least 4 days a week and gained 15 pounds. I don't think it was the coffee though. :upsidedow I do know that they use 100% Arabica beans which are my favorite. Now I brew it at home with a french press myself :)

Since Starbucks is not on my route to work I usually only go there on the weekends with the wife. I think my perception is still that Starbuck's is the more expensive gourmet coffee and not my everyday go juice.

How about you guys? What's your favorite?

I prefer Dunkin' Donuts :2 cents:

JamesK2 03-23-2007 08:36 AM

Black Canyon :)

RawAlex 03-23-2007 08:40 AM

Tim Hortons.

tony286 03-23-2007 08:42 AM

dunkin donuts, consumer reports preferred them over all the big coffee companies including starbucks. I buy their beans and make it at home.

MikeVega 03-23-2007 08:42 AM

I like the 711 coffee .. It's fresh and i make it myself. none of the other places make it the way i want it. Starbucks is good if you want a frozen mocha frap. or something

SlickCashChris 03-23-2007 08:45 AM

converted *bux drinker, by default. it's the only coffee shop around me that is consistent.

Jakke PNG 03-23-2007 08:50 AM

I don't understand how you people call starbucks coffee.
It's a 'slightly coffee flavored'-dessert.

Jakke PNG 03-23-2007 08:50 AM

Coffee is ment to be black and bitter.

OldJeff 03-23-2007 08:53 AM

Either, and I do not worry about how it is made. (I like it in a cup)

BUT I do get a daily large Iced from DD - funny I drink hot coffee black, but I like the Iced with equal and cream.

This is awesome if you like variety (or you have coffee at different times of the day)

woj 03-23-2007 08:57 AM

I don't really drink coffee, but starbucks is way overpriced, $3 for a cup of coffee? wtf? They probably sell same coffee that DD sells, and just charge more to give an illusion of quality...

Angelo22 03-23-2007 08:59 AM

WTF, that diluited shit isnt coffee

Real coffee is made in bars

Starbucks coffee is not good quality!

In any taste test it comes at the bottom somewhere, however their brand is very powerful!

LiveDose 03-23-2007 09:04 AM

Man Dunkin Donuts coffee is so good. Almost like dessert...

AssPirate 03-23-2007 09:06 AM

Shipley's is the BEST, y'all!

Starbucks overroasts their beans.

You just can't tell half the time because they mask it behind a double macchiato frap-lap-dance.

bausch 03-23-2007 09:25 AM

How are you guys able to even get to Starbucks or DunkinDonuts without coffee already in ur system??

Starbucks is a 2 minute drive from my house and I don't even have energy to get dressed and start my car without caffeine in my system. I don't think I can even leave my house without coffee. Making coffee is the FIRST thing I do in the morning, I basically can't function without it. I think I'm addicted.

I am surprised at people who can even get to a coffeeshop in the morning without coffee already in their system/blood. Does this mean that you are half asleep when driving/walking there?

I am not kidding, I am not capable of even getting out of my house without some coffee. It feels like I'm dying. It's the most terrible feeling in the world. I mean it literally feels like my body is lagged and my eyes are heavy and like I have no energy. I can't even get dressed or do anything.

How are all you people managing to make it to a coffee place, even if it's next to your house? I couldnt even make it that far.

bausch 03-23-2007 09:37 AM

I just finished one cup of coffee and I still don't feel right or awake. It takes me a few hours to fully wake up. I'm sleepy as hell. I still would not be able to go to Starbucks now even though I've been awake for around an hour and had one cup of coffee. I might need another...

How do you people do it?? How do you get energy to even go to Starbucks when you haven't had any coffee? Don't you feel like you are going to die????

Dunkin' Donuts

WebairGerard 03-23-2007 09:43 AM

Seattle's Best is my favorite. Dunking Donuts is good too. Don't care for Starbucks that much.

Horny Dude 03-23-2007 09:45 AM

I had a cup of coffee from McDonald's last week and was surprised. That was a great cup of coffee. Not sure where a Dunkin Donuts is around me, I will have to search for one and give them a shot.

pornguy 03-23-2007 09:51 AM

Dunkin Dounts has long had the better coffee, and they are realistic about the price.

They also have, or had that box of coffee to go. take it to the office, and enjoy it all morning.

Forest 03-23-2007 10:02 AM

im a DD fan now

i drank sb for years then switch IMHO its much better coffee and its cheaper as well

s9ann0 03-23-2007 10:46 AM

I like the stuff in stores though because its like ice cream with caffeine or something

schneemann 03-23-2007 10:46 AM

Wawa has some great coffee.

McDonalds' coffee is actually really good these days.

When I go to starbucks, I don't buy coffee. I get a Mocha Frappacino with 3 shots of espresso. w00t

InfinityWebCreations 03-23-2007 10:56 AM

Don't have a Dunkin Donuts in the immediate area. We have Starbucks and Sweet Bay though. I generally buy the Starbucks beans & brew my own coffee... with some french vanilla syrup & hazelnut syrup. mmm :thumbsup

bDok 03-23-2007 11:00 AM

starbucks. stuff packs a punch. The coffee itself isn't the greatest, but as far as how it wakes me up. :)

amandaspost 03-23-2007 11:05 AM

I like Dunkin Donuts the best.

xlogger 03-23-2007 11:06 AM

Man starbucks coffee is TOO STRONG! Even if i put shit load of cream, its still STRONG AS HELL! DD makes perfect coffee.:thumbsup

SuzzyQ 03-23-2007 11:06 AM

I hit DD on my way to work EVERYDAY. I also am addicted to the chocolate frosted donuts.....

JamesK2 03-23-2007 11:09 AM

Wonder why no one likes Black Canyon in here!

JFK 03-23-2007 11:09 AM

TIM HORTONS:thumbsup

Brad 03-23-2007 11:10 AM

Screw Whorebucks...Tim Hortons is all you need.

eviltang 03-23-2007 11:11 AM

Tim Hortons is the best everyday coffee. For your designer stuff (i.e. frappa-whatchamacallits) Starbucks. And for your Apple Cider....Hot Apple Blast from Carbou Coffee.....MMMM MMM Good!

mainah 03-23-2007 11:11 AM

I brew my own before driving off to work and drink it black. If I need a refill later in the day I go to a local coffee shop next door - screw both Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts!

psili 03-23-2007 11:12 AM

Dunkin Donuts = "Coffee please."
Starbucks = "Half-caf venti latte, non-fat, no whip, vanilla"

-- I'd have to say if I was a coffee drinker, I'd feel pretty fucking gay and less of a person ordering at Starbucks.

In my eyes, there's three types of Starbuck customers:
1. Someone who needs to look cool with a cup and a logo in their hand
2. Someone who needs a cup of coffee with no other place to get coffee from.
3. Someone who doesn't like coffee, but craves caffeine and will spend too much money on some venti vanilla half-caf no whip bullshit.

Wait - there's a fourth: In honor of stickyfingers, there's also Mac users who somehow enjoy paying too much for labels. (see #1)

shoeaholicanon 03-23-2007 11:19 AM

Starbucks :) Love thier latte and capp's

Believe me when I say that for a lot of people a cup of Starbucks is actually a fashion accessory, kind of like a purse. Especially after celebs are SO OFTEN being photographed holding a cup of Starbucks, it really became the trendy thing to do. There was a time where the Olson twins would be photographed every day carrying a cup of Starbucks by the papparazi. They have a HUGE female following and Starbucks soon became like a fashion accessory, carrying one sort of completes the look.

This is the real reason why Starbucks became so popular. Because all the celebs started drinking it and were photographed drinking. Soon after the masses followed.

Below you can see Hil Duff, Brit, Jess and Nick, Nicole Richie and DJ Am, all drinking Starbucks. It's the cool thing to do now, to drink Starbucks.

If you ever want to endorse a product, if you can get Lindsay Lohan or Britney holding it up or using it and arrange "candid shots" by the papparazi, the next day thousands of people will rush out to buy the product, whether it be clothes, a purse, or even coffee.

All it takes is for one celeb to wear something to get it sold out the next day. Literally.

dissipate 03-23-2007 11:29 AM

Dunkin donuuuuuuuuts.

However they don't exist down here in costa rica... but the coffee is grown here and fresh so it's good most everywhere.

You're totally correct and it saddens me. Too many sheep out there following media attention. Every star you mentioned, in my own opinion, is worthless. However, they have great media attention and thus are very popular because the general public is retarded.

Personally, I hold some hope for humanity (kind of like how some believe in God but not religion).... but just a little. I think the general population of homo sapiens are a sad bunch. Or maybe I'm just grumpy today. *shrug*

WWF-Jimmy 03-23-2007 12:00 PM

Stabucks sucks!! I'll take INstant coffee over that crack, i mean crap

aimeesweet 03-23-2007 12:02 PM

I love Dunkin Donuts Iced french vanilla coffee... but since we don't have any out here I have to settle for Starbucks caramel macchiato...

Furious_Female 03-23-2007 12:10 PM

I've never had Starbucks... crazy huh? :1orglaugh I like Dunkin Donuts coffee a lot, but prefer to just make it at home.
