If Animals Could Talk

If animals could talk, would you become a vegetarian?
If they could actually talk/communicate would that change your way of viewing them as just animals? Would we consider them as equal beings (for those who don't)? And would that stop you from eating them?

I'm gonna go get me some pork chops.

they can talk. they just cant think that deeply. I still eat meat. "Life feeds on life, feeds on life"

"These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots! You see, Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day and to them it is the holocaust."

That has always been the way I have seen things

Veggies can not talk silly, they are brain dead.

Now if animals could talk, it would be my word versus theirs and damnit I did not do anything with them nor used any peanut butter.

If animals could talk, one would probably be president.

Some do. and we (as a species) still eat them.

They might not be speaking English, but they still have intelligence and a developed language.

Maybe it's the way of things.

Personally, I prefer to keep my daily meat consumption to animals that don't have very much to show in the way of intelligence. If an animal was actually able to rationalize out the words "please don't eat me," I think it'd be a cruel thing to eat them.

I think the absolute line would be that when a species is self-aware enough to ask "who am I and what is my place in this world?" it's time to stop eating them.

Until then, bring on the steak. :)

madawgz 03-24-2007 01:39 PM

i think it would be harder to eat them
