Yet another fucking REGISTERFLY thread
So, they lost their accreditation agreement or whatever as of March 31, you can still pay for a domain renewal still but NOTHING happens. They're basically still using a merchant account to accept money?? They even have a discount for renewing early right now, its unreal.
Not that this is the know it all domain forum, but I figure maybe someone knows something. What is going to happen to all the domains that are up, paid renewal before all this shit started? There has to be thousands of them and people unaware of this. So when April 1st comes, what the hell is going to happen to those with domains still with Registerfly? What the hell is icann going to do? Will the sites all go down? How does it work? I myself am still doing transfers, its crazy. But honestly what the hell is going to happen? I know ICANN is meeting tomorrow and its a public meeting which will no doubt be a little rowdy because people are pissed. I just wonder what the hell will happen after March 31. I don't see how all the domains left with registerfly will just go down. Will they? :( And why those motherfuckers are still being allowed to accept money is completely wrong. Its such a sad thing to see the government be fully aware of this shit and do nothing except plan their fucking buffet for their meetings and make press releases about it. They have no souls. And this board needs more violent emoticons. :stab :1orglaugh |
i've tried to transfer out of registerfly, but cannot get the auth codes.
the domains are all up to date, so i presume they will be okay until renewal time. i cannot get them on the phone. they don't answer support tickets and i cannot transfer out. |

http://pokerrouge.com/blog/other/reg...titanic-sinks/ You may have noticed that this post may differ a little from our usual topics of poker and online gambling. The reason for this is that we were also affected by the soon to be extinct RegisterFly.com. ? However we have found and an emergency solution ? This solution exploits the loophole in their system and gets you your authorization codes quickly. This will work on all domains that have used the ProtectFly feature and the Domain-Lock feature and up until now have not been able to get the codes they need to transfer their domains to another registrar. We were hesitant to release this information before we transferred all of our domains. And as of 10 minutes ago we have full access to our domain names & they are safe in another registrar. The following processes, if followed to the letter, will give you the codes and start the domain transfer. If you?re lucky, you may get off this titanic in time. 1. Create A New Register Fly Account. 2. Login into the Old RegisterFly Account. 3. Click on Manage Domains 4. Click A Domain Name 5. Click On Change Ownership 6. Click On ?Push your names to another user? 7. Click Continue 8. Enter The User ID of The New RegisterFly Account 9. Verify The User ID of The New RegisterFly Account is Correct 10. Click Continue 11. Select Each Domain Name to Push 12. Check the Check Box Marked ?Change the Whois/Contact info on the names being pushed? *** Check This Box Only if your Domains are Showing ProtectFly Information on a Whois Database, If it?s Showing your Real Information with Working Email Then Continue Without Checking the Check Box *** 13. Login into Your New RegisterFly Account, Your Recently Transferred Domains Should Be All Unlocked. 14. Click Change Whois Information And Get Authorization Code for Each Domain. 15. Begin Transfer to New Registrar. Our Experience took 5 Days (3 Business Days) and has gone through fine. Good Luck with your efforts, and if you have any questions post a comment. We will try to answer the comments ASAP. |

I just keep reading that registerfly is done. But all those domains, someone must be taking over? I don't want them to be like a globill of domain names. They are taking people's money right now - even offering another special! - and not providing services. They are knowingly doing this and its called stealing. But the fact that it is virtual property is good, I don't see why people would lose their sites through this. I'm being patient, waiting for all the shit to settle too, I still have some domains in limbo and down at the moment. However I already managed to get several out of redemption through enom so that's good. I'll be chasing motherfuckers for my sites for a while I guess. What I can't transfer anyhow. Its such a mess. All my renewals for Jan/Feb/March halfway went through, transfers partially went through due to domains not unlocking and support tickets not answered. Luckly I at least got December squared away. I'm owed hundreds of dollars in refunds too, but I just want my sites up. I'm really hoping this week brings some news about domains being ok, the ones people don't transfer anyhow. I can't see so many millions of bucks involved in this that sites will just go down. Today I discovered I have domains down because for some reason they have expiration date in 2009, which I don't think I paid up til, but because of this the site wasn't in the renewal list and I didn't pay for it. So I even paid them money today knowing it would be lost, just so I have proof I paid if I have to show it to another registrar. Even when I am owed so much. Motherfuckers! My whole life has been affected by this I swear. Since December. Kicking myself for their domain specials. I can't manage it all, its killing me. :1orglaugh And I am ready to pass on my distress to whoever is responsible if this isn't resolved in the next couple weeks. |
Yeah the auth codes used to show up if you went to the whois and selected the default, or something like that. It stopped working a while back for me though, its a complete mess.
I just wonder what will happen April 1. |
Cherry did you get in touch with the icann dude that is helping people? He got my important domains authed and transferred right before all hell broke loose.
Here is the info in case you missed it: Comment by Mike Zupke 2007-03-11 02:33:29 If you are continuing to experience unlocking, auth-code, privacy service/protect-fly, or other whois problems preventing transfers, please send me an email with the following details: 1. all domain names affected; 2. your registerfly account name; 3. the email address associated with your registerfly account; 4. a brief explanation of the specific problem (in other words, say "I can't get auth codes from the control panel," or "I can't unlock my domain name in the control panel," or "I can't log into my control panel" etc.); 5. the date when you last attempted to do the thing you can't do. Before you hit send, please (PLEASE) double-check to ensure that you've included all of the details listed above. If you don't include the details above, we will return your email to you with a request for additional information. This will slow the handling of your complaint and also unfairly limit the availability of resources for other registrants. Please use email address [email protected] . You will receive an auto-response / anti-spam verification email, so be sure you are writing from an email address you still have access to or I won't get your message. Worked for me! |
Thank you gorny, yeah I have his info. I'm taking care of it all exclusively this week. I just have a lot of sites and have been running with my eyes closed hoping there is an easy fix, otherwise hours and hours of my time is going to be sucked away. But sounds like there isn't any alternative other than transfering every single site with registerfly away from them, getting the codes, unlocking, etc. I know other registrars are assisting, I just still have to get the site data together and its a headache.
This is all new in this IT world. A huge registrar going down. It will be a real learning experience for everyone involved. Already is! |
Getting the Auth codes can be tricky as everyones account settings differ...
Here is what I did. Login >> 'My settings' tab >> Find 'Enable/Disable the ability to lock/unlock your domains' under 'security settings' and click 'view' >> Make sure 'manage securelock' is selected in first dropdown menu>> Make sure 'Enable domain locking for this account' is selected in second dropdown menu >> Click 'Update' >> Click on 'manage domains' tab >> Here is the tricky part...... Click the link to the domain you want to edit/transfer (instead of using the checkboxes and clicking modify) Do this for each domain individually... Check 'domain status' to see if the domain is locked or unlocked... if unlocked goto next step. If locked then click the 'locked' link >> and unlock the domain >> Click the '+' to open the 'domain contact information' box >> Click 'Configure' >> Use this time to edit any info that might need updated as this may slow down the transfer... Auth code should be there, and shouldn't change regardless of whether you edit/save your contact details. Hope this helps. It worked for me. |
Fuck I need to get my domains tranferred away to a new registrar
|
My steps where the same as Murderous posted...
The key point is you have to "modify each domain", not by bulk. And to add to this. I recieved emails for each domain, I had to then copy the domain name and email auth code, into a box, and confirm the transfer for it to take place quicker, after doing this my domains where fully moved within 48 hours. |
Oh, and if your domains are "locked", after you push them you can "unlock" all your domains. I couldn't do a batch unlock, so I had to go through each domain and unlock it... Then I could get the auth codes for the transfer.
The auth codes, btw.. Each gets put into your new registrars admin area. Normally the domain and the code go together, so make sure you copy them both down. |

The instructions Murderous posted work if you don't have ProtectFly.
It seems for domains with ProtectFly enabled you will need to transfer to another un-protectflyd account first. |
or the code RRP

soon all the domains will be transferred to another currently unnamed registrar. as of right now domains are listed as 'server delete prohibited' meaning they wont get deleted if they expire at registerfly. i'm transferring mine out on a daily basis, but a lot are still too new to transfer-out.
|
pain in the ass... Has been working on this for months now. Waiting for that icann email. Looking forward to get it off my shoulders!

I just posted this in another registerfly thread but meant to post it in my thread, haha oops:
ok so I read ICANN's statement on this from today, on this page: http://www.registerflies.com/icann-o...act-sheet.html ICANN actually sent employees to the registerfly office to get customer data and were refused entry and denied. In the past, when a registrar lost their accreditation (because it has happened before), the registrar just sold off their client base and everyone was notified after the fact. But registerfly are being assholes. Also registerfly just went through an ownership dispute in court which obviously prevented them from just selling their biz while this was going on, it was just settled early this March. However, it seems that Kevin Medina is the guy who was awarded the company and he is a notorious crook, right now stealing everyone's money and not handing over customer information. Why this guy still has a merchant account is beyond me. So that is it, they have not handed over our information yet it seems. I can't understand why they would just hold onto this, its in their best interest to sell off what they can at this point but seems like some scammers running the place so who knows. The bottom line is if registerfly doesn't hand over customer info its going to create more of a huge mess. If you have domains still at registerfly and do not transfer them out by March 31, make SURE you get screen shots from registerfly, make sure your whois is correct, because if ICANN doesn't get this info I suppose people will have to prove ownership to get their sites back. I hope it works out in the customer favor this week. Icann seems more worried about amending their agreements than saving people from more losses. |
