cites?

"The proposal is troubling because it will invariably lead to issues as to what cites should be designated ".xxx,"' said civil liberties lawyer E. Christopher Murray, a partner in the Garden City, New York-based law firm of Reisman, Peirez and Reisman. "It will be the first designation based on the content of the site; and the 'xxx' designation will encourage the censoring of the Internet by governments."

If it's approved, the world is going to see an overnight doubling of porn on the internet. I'll buy every .xxx that matches every .com and .net that I already own, and forward them. Obviously.

If it passes, there's some true imbeciles out there..

I saw that too. It really grinds my gears when people mis-spell words or have bad grammer. If it's published and the world is reading it, it better be right in my opinion.

unfortunately tom, more than likely many of your names are already gone. cyber squatting cases and lawsuits will go into the hundreds of thousands. no one is reserving names for owners of .coms. i would pretty much venture that many many of the renegades in countries where they are protected have already snatched up the most valuables that those involved in the ICM sweetheart deals don't want.

:2 cents:

gfy is truly amazing, i've been posting updates in this thread and no one noticed them and now a new thread was started and 5 replies already

ah well in like 17 hours from now .xxx will be either approved or rejected

polish_aristocrat 03-29-2007 08:46 AM

perhaps true, but why are you so pesimistic? :)

you've been saying someone told you "it's a done deal" but it wasn't the case

makes you wonder about some of the people that have been telling us things no?
:winkwink:

i now trust no one in this industry. no one. lets not get too optimistic either and jinx it. you know what i want to happen, we've been two of the most outspoken opponents with the biggest balls yet on killing this thing through awareness. i am also confident now that it will die, but i don't want to prematurely anticipate it and be disappointed.

it was never said that the .com owner would be the holder of the .xxx otherwise, why would anyone need a sweetheart deal? theres some butt fucking gonna occur unless it is ICANN that says that the .com owner is the only one that can register the .xxx. jesus how would they even verify that? what a nightmare that could be.

i am looking forward to icann shoving this tld where it belongs forever, up lawleys ass. what people cannot forget which they will, is that behind this is another attempt, at something else. someone will always be trying to stick their hand in the pot of gold known as adult online.

yeah im not getting too optimistic either, but looking realistyc, i'd say it would be surprise if ICANN actually approves it

everyone has protested against it - GAC (governments), us, the religious folks etc - http://forum.icann.org/lists/xxx-icm-agreement/ they even started a new email campaign again lol :1orglaugh

no arguments for the approval and the process is made to be transparent, not to mention this is a public meeting and it will be webcast live

would be too controversial for ICANN to approve .xxx IMO..

Which brings up the irony of the entire facade.

They keep referring to this as "back alley" type of internet section, when in actuality, it will only double the amount of porn online - in effect giving their highschool kids, millions of more sites to browse - not stopping them from doing so.

Even if it is rejected tomorrow, it will be appealed, and go thought this all again. To much money stands to be made.

What's to be appealed? Nothing. They've had their appeals.
How many times do one have to be told "NO" to get the pciture .XXX is not wanted?

If this is rejected( as I suspect ) and these .XXX assholes keep trying to get it passed it sad to say that somebody is going to have to make them understand it's not wanted.
