Bump for you

sounds like a great opportunity for someone :thumbsup

nestle 03-30-2007 05:56 PM

Wow, a fellow Charlottean! Haha, didn't realize there were other GFYers in Charlotte.

Anyway, good luck on the search, I think it'll be pretty tough to convince someone to relocate to Charlotte - it's too clean and small of a city although it's certainly a city on the rise.

Only in Adult would a city be too clean :)

With that said, we have a bunch of great strip clubs here!

edgeprod 04-02-2007 12:37 PM

Still looking, eh? I'm sure someone will snap this up soon enough, if there's anyone AROUND Charlotte ... I'm on the other side of the state, and there's no one here, so .... maybe it's like that up your way!

:1orglaugh

Klen 04-02-2007 12:40 PM

Another job seek,cool :)

Masterchief 04-02-2007 12:49 PM

Damn, are you all building an army of programmers or is it just that hard to find someone?

Zayne E. 04-02-2007 01:04 PM

Great opportunity for a good programmer. AEBN is top notch with awesome people and great management. Decent location in a great city.

Excellent, pain free long-distance relocation last I checked too :winkwink:

Always looking, always hiring!

Most people here want to work for the banks, so it's tough to hire high-end PHP and database people in Adult.

When are you moving to Charlotte? <hint />

A small army :)

AEBN has about 16 on the core product programming team, plus 3 DBAs. The Traffic dept has 6 programmers, and I'm wanting to hire 5 more, plus a DBA. We have a very aggressive schedule for 2007 :)

What, those Southerners don't want to get into PORN?

And I wouldn't want to give you a heart attack with my salary history. :1orglaugh

GrouchyAdmin 04-02-2007 03:19 PM

I'm a few countries away, but this could be an interesting position.

Good luck drifting through all of the former RedHat employees. :thumbsup :1orglaugh

I'm one of those, but it doesn't mean I'd drive 3 hours to AEBN! :1orglaugh

Haha. Well, I'm at Trade and Tryon everyday, a place where you probably can't even spit without getting bad looks from others.

That's true but it's understandable seeing as how Charlotte is home to 2/3 of top retail banks in the US and dozens of smaller ones. If I ever get laid off or fired, I'll give you a call. :thumbsup

Think about it - wearing shorts and sandals to work every day, no ties, no uptown traffic.. it's paradise! We're just down the street from one of the proposed light rail park and rides, so IF that ever actually gets completed you can ride it to work :)

But I'm not even a good coder!

I'll whore myself out remotely, but not on-staff -- my salary requirements look like the national debt. :thumbsup

PMdave 04-03-2007 01:52 PM

"aggressive" as in comming with a new affiliate backend? The stats feature could use some more functions.

1999-2001. I was in San Fransisco and Silicon Valley at the time, though. Only visited the RTP office once, and ironically, I live here now -- LOL! :1orglaugh Originally, I'm from Connecticut, though.

That's the other programming group - this is for the Traffic dept.

I can't say much about what's in the core product pipeline, but I can say you'll love what they have in the works for the affiliate backend and the sales tools.

Hah!

I did my time in 2000-2002. Did you go to that first company wide meeting in 2000, where they threw this huge party at the end that was like a giant nerd rave? :1orglaugh

LOL, no. I was at the Mandrake party in CA, though, after all that happened. I worked for BeOpen (do you remember them?), with the Python team. I was their Vice President of Business Development. I was working with Jacobsen (RH's VP of Biz Dev) on the Google stuff, etc.

Masterchief 04-03-2007 02:57 PM

If you all ever convert to a .NET shop, i'll have to give y'all a call :)

No dont remember BeOpen, although it rings a bell. I started as a support minion, and then cut my teeth on some webdev of the much loathed hardware compatibility list.. had a brief stint at the end working for RHN as a QA Engineer, under Christian Gafton before I decided to escape!

quantum-x 04-03-2007 10:30 PM

does it come with unmoderated access to April? ;)

teksonline 04-03-2007 11:18 PM

good to see AEBN keeping up with times and preparing for future.. Bump for a good opportunity...

Very cool! BeOpen was the company that hired the Python team -- Guido and his boys. We released Python 2.0, which Anaconda was written in, of course. After that finished, I did the RH thing.

Yes! :1orglaugh

fusionx 04-11-2007 01:17 PM

bump for programmers!

I've hired three, and need at least three more!

fusionx 04-23-2007 12:14 PM

And again. I still need three more. Or four more, if you're out there!

TurboAngel 04-23-2007 03:35 PM

Good luck, I would hate to live there. I'm happy a little North from ya.

:)
