Heavy watermaking of promo content on a new site..
 

Who here would promote a site that had all the content watermarked right in the center of all the promo images? Ok it's one of the transparent watermarks but you can see it clear as day. It's not the only watermark on the images either they have the standard water mark down in the corner of each image but this extra one kills the whole deal in regards for promo content.

I have nothing against sponsors that want to watermark their content I say good for them, because I know it costs a lot to produce and it sucks when people steal it. This message is geared to maybe talk some sense into a sponsor, I mean common we are trying to promote your sites and make a little money here. How the hell are we supposed to send clicks to your galleries when the chick has the domain watermark plastered on her forehead?

Isn't promo content just that? To be used for promotion? I mean seriously you guys have tied the hands behind our backs by watermarking the entire image. I end up having to use content with watermarks right across the girl's face, but the torrent sites and the PW forums will just go in and steal all the real content and give it away for free and I have to try to compete with that.

I mean seriously how does that kind of watermarking really do anything to help keep people from stealing your content? Think about it..

I'm sure some will easily figure out who it is, I'm not trying to bash the program in anyway which is why I'm not naming names, but maybe try to get them to look at this from an affiliates POV.

I'm not one of these affiliates that whines and complains about I need this or that, in fact I've rarely ever even talk to the programs I send traffic to. I just do my thing and use what's available for me. The only thing I ask for in a program is tours that will convert and either nice FHG's or good promo content, that's it.

Sad part is I was really looking forward to this site launch because I thought it was going to sell good, now I'm not even sure if I can promote it. I had built a site 3 weeks ago so I was ready at the launch date which was today. Now I'm not sure if I can even promote the site other than just hard links because I'm not going to use content that's watermarked like that.

Would you promote a site that had water marks right in the center of all the promo content?

sounds like they are overly paranoid that someone will crop out their watermark.

if someone is a thief my thought is they'll black out the one in the center too and put their own right in the center.

Watermarking or Digimarking is for shit. The only advantage I see is that you can look out for your watermark later down the road and frown that someone stole your shit.

Those who steal content normally don't give a rats ass about a watermark. I know a big dutch company used to watermark their extreme content all over, and yet I saw whole webpages consisting solely of their stolen images online. Pic thieves don't get caught like this. If anyone had ever caught a pic thief with a watermark, Digimarc Corp. would tell.

Watermarks are not safe either, they can be removed the same way you remove film grain. It makes the image a tad more grainy but those who steal, and therefore get them for free, don't care.
There are even Photoshop ad ons out there made to remove the shit (http://www.visinf.com/).

I guess it doesn't mattter.. I'm not trying to bash the program because I like promoting their sites.. Just trying to let them know that this kind of stuff does nothing but hurt affiliates whom are trying to promote their sites.

Hell if it's about the theft of content then give me non nude, soft core only or implied nudity save the good stuff for the members area.. I can make any of that work and honestly I'd even prefer that. However I can't use images with big ass watermarks across the center of them.

Damn guess I should have started a topic and just posted free porn for the surfers on here, then at least they might bitch about the watermarked images or sign up.

I hear ya man.. it's so hard to find decent promo content. If it's not watermarks it's 8 picture promo 'sets' that are 600 pixels on the long side. If it's not that, it's 15 picture sets where the last picture in the set shows half a nipple. If it's not that it's horrible lighting or 15 year old sets that can be bought for $3 each. etc etc etc.. I end up not promoting 90% of the sponsors I would like to promote because there's either jack shit for promo content or what is available completely sucks. Sure you could probably ask for membership access and get it, but who wants to jump through hoops like that? When I'm in actual 'work' mode the last thing I want to do is email someone for a password, and then wait anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Instead I just don't even bother and move on to the next one.
